I did not suggest that you or anyone else here is a Holocaust denier! You are taking this personally when it isn't personal.

I certainly don't accept a position that animals are psychic, no. But I don't accept one that humans are either! That's my opinion. Others may disagree.

But I think that this is becoming far too emotive and being taken far too personally for something that is only a matter of opinion or debate. Having made my point, I am bowing out before it becomes further emotionally charged.

I wonder what the difference in price is between a Kilo of beef and a Kilo of horse meat ?
I saw it on menu in France and from what I remember it was quite expensive, in comparison, perhaps it is not the grade that is intended sur la table.

i read somewere beef is £1000/ton and horse is £50/ton (take with a pinch of salt :/ )

I have actually had Zebra meat in a restaurant before, although it left me a little hoarse :/

I wonder if there is a breed of horse that is actually intended for the table as suggested earlier, and this is more expensive, a bit like Aberdeen Angus steak.

The debate seems to have moved on now, in that people seem to be becoming concerned about the druggs that may have been used on domestic animals and the fact that these could have be toxic when consumed by us humans.

Seems like a valid concern although from all accounts this practice has been going on for some time , and I would have expected some reports of any ill effects coming up before now

Indeed there is - in France you will find 'boucheries chevalines' which sell only horse meat. A normal 'boucherie' is not allowed to. It is a common meal there.

In Britain, horses are for riding, patting, backing in the Grand National. They're pets, not pot roasts.
Loyal companions rather than lunchtime specials.
To cut them into steaks and serve with a pile of french fries is barbaric;
a culinary crime up there with with roast dog and kitten pie!

Further, mincing them up and commuting their meat into some kind inedible gloop, which is mixed with inedible cheese is worse than barbaric and probably a danger to health...

According to a report I was reading a little while ago, world wide the amount of available animal protean is dropping at an alarming rate, so who knows what we will all be eating in thirty years time, horse may be a delacacey

Wonder how many of you eat the battered/plain sausages from chip shops?..........I wouldn't,but then I know whats in some of them...............and yes,,horsemeat

What we eat is not the issue, it's what we are told we are eating should be accurate.
I make a choice on rabbit, horse and some meats I don't particularly like. I also have issues with Halal and Kosher but they are down to me.

Depends where you come from.
If you asked people in Somalia with its present day famine sure they would eat horseburgers.
