There would also be more interest to be added as I assume the interest was only calculated to mid September, when you write/email is quicker to the CEO. Tell him you are concerned that despite advising you that they are paying your claim they have failed to do so. That is a lot of money to go astray so keep on the back of the CEO - and watch the results.

Yes, Tuttsi is totally right. I had problems at the Customer Relation level and escalated my complaint to the CEO level. They do not mess around, they always e-mail you straight back within a day to acknowledge your complaint and always ring you on behalf of David Nicholson. I even got an extra £100 for the inconvenience caused to me with delays etc.

Based on Sava05 account with his dealings with the CEO you need further interest added to the amount they already agreed plus extra compensation for messing you about. The hundred they already offered you was very low in comparison to the ordeal which you suffered so it would not harm now if you push for another £100 for keeping you waiting. Ensure that they have your correct address in case they have issued the cheque and it has gone astray. If they have not sent it yet request that they pay it immediately into your bank account and let us know how it goes next week.

I have also requested that Bill let's you have the daily amount of interest that needs to advised to the Halifax from the date it was last calculated to and the date they actually pay you.

Further to Tuttsi's post above, I reckon that the amount due should increase by approx. £2.62 per day, due to the Statutory Interest at 8%. This brings the claim 'quantum' to £15,984.33 as at 06/10/13, according to my calculations.

Indeed, I reckon AT LEAST a further £100 should be awarded as compensation for the distress caused, as well.

          AT LEAST, I said !!!

            Payment of unpaid claims 60 @ £199.69 = £11,981.40
8 % on each unpaid mthly claim from the date it was due to 16/9/2013 = £3,950.38

            Sub-total = £15,931.78

            Add £100 compensation

            Grand Total = £16,031.78

In order that Skyways ( and others not familiar) can follow how I got the 8% total, I outline the theory below and include the spreadsheets.

The awarding of 8% compensatory interest (simple interest) is now firmly established and we originally used it for the old claims for bank penalty charges ---and currently our spreadsheets for mis-selling of Loans with PPI also use it.

Here's a couple of links to read:

            http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...tment-loss.htm

            https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-...k-out-interest

So here's the spreadsheet(in image format) that I used for Skyways--it is in fact adapted from the one I used for claiming Bank Charges in 2007+

It is SIMPLE INTEREST not compound.

Note that the earlier months attract more interest than the later ones
I also attach the Excel SS also so those that are interested can hover over columns F-H to examine the formulae
--but the effective result for each month's 8 % is:

Amount of Unpaid Claim x number of elapsed days from original date to now x 8%/365

            Hope that helps a bit

ps--the "Daily Rate" of £2.64 is the amount to be added per day from 16/9/2013 to payout date

Thanks Bill, plus the £100 compensation they have already agreed to (don't let us lose sight of this compensation) makes a grand total to the 6th October £16084.33. Plus I would say a further £100 for the delay.... as they are not playing nicely. Turbs figures posted virtually the same time as I did would increase the daily rate to £2.64, therefore based on Turbos figures a further .40p (20 days @ 2p per day and up to 6/10/13 is a further 20 days) should be added making a new final total £16,184.73

Skyways, don't worry about that, that e-mail you received only means that some one in the CEO office will be assigned to deal with your case.

                            Oct 6th

                            Dear Mr Nicholson

I feel that I need to get in touch with you again, though I really did not want to and had no choice . You see I am a bit concerned that despite advising me that they are paying my claim, they have failed to do so. I have looked out every day for post.I was told 3 weeks ago that they were honouring my claim, but my case has been going on since March this year, all this stress on top of me having Parkinsons is not my fault ,I thought Halifax would be there with that little bit of security especially now when I need it..I hope nobody gets into any trouble because that is the last thing I want. I have done all they have asked of me.

Patience is a virtue. If no response though in next 7 days a warning to the CEO's office that a solicitors letter might be forthcoming as this is ridiculous they should have paid you by now.
