TBH - considering what he has been through, and what he has had to do to get this sorted - along with the puny £100 compo - I don't actually feel that any thanks are in order. I agree that it would be 'nice' to at least express some relief at finally getting the decision reversed - but since when has 'nice' had anything to do with it ?

I would just send them something short and sweet - and perhaps comment on that stingy £100.

Bill and myself have had an off-thread discussion and he agrees my figures are the correct ones--so the up to date calculations as at todays date (16/9/2013) are:

      Payment of unpaid claims 60 @ £199.69 = £11,981.40
8 % on each unpaid mthly claim from the date it was due to 16/9/2013 = £3,950.38

      Sub-total = £15,931.78

      Add £100 compensation

      Grand Total = £16,031.78

In order that Skyways ( and others not familiar) can follow how I got the 8% total, I outline the theory below and include the spreadsheets.

The awarding of 8% compensatory interest (simple interest) is now firmly established and we originally used it for the old claims for bank penalty charges ---and currently our spreadsheets for mis-selling of Loans with PPI also use it.

Here's a couple of links to read:

      http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...tment-loss.htm

      https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-...k-out-interest

So here's the spreadsheet(in image format) that I used for Skyways--it is in fact adapted from the one I used for claiming Bank Charges in 2007+

It is SIMPLE INTEREST not compound.

Note that the earlier months attract more interest than the later ones
I also attach the Excel SS also so those that are interested can hover over columns F-H to examine the formulae
--but the effective result for each month's 8 % is:

Amount of Unpaid Claim x number of elapsed days from original date to now x 8%/365

      Skyways1.xls

      Hope that helps a bit

ps--the "Daily Rate" of £2.64 is the amount to be added per day from 16/9/2013 to payout date

Well done all concerned, that is fantastic news for Skyways and a lesson for insurers is not to mess with a Beagle.

Yes indeed - well done Turbo. I agree with your calculation.

As this is not a loan or a 'revolving credit' account, then Turbo's method is correct. In my case, I used an adapted credit card spreadsheet, which calculates interest due on the balance in the preceding month each time. In this case, it added an extra month of 8% interest - which was incorrect.

My apologies for the extra work involved.

          - But I still think £100 compo is stingy !!!

I sympathise with you there. I am going through a similar thing myself but against my employer who sacked me whilst I was recovering from surgery. I had a condition that was a serious condition and will need life long treatment but was thought to be a simple condition. I had "symptoms" before taking on my employment and one of them was vertigo which I told their occupational health about in my employment questionnaire but I had not had any diagnosis to be able to tell them a name to my condition I was suffering symptoms from and I had thought it was related to my stress, depression and anxiety but a few months into my new job I was diagnosed. I am taking my employer to a tribunal regarding this as they are stating I did not make them aware when I started but I DID make them aware of anything I was diagnosed with.

How can you make anyone aware of something that you are not medically diagnosed with?

My claim against my employer is disability discrimination. I have had my case management discussion and am now awaiting my preliminary hearing in October but ACAS are involved at the moment. I had to get lots of medical notes and hospital notes but when you read them it makes you wonder who actually knows anything. I have a solicitor through my house insurance who has eventually (after my doing most of the work myself may I add) decided he will take it on and provide a barrister for my hearing.

              I just hope I win.

                      Hi Skyways

                      I directed Marshy here btw

She is one of my fondest friends on here--when LB asked me & Bill to help out on PPI with Nelliewops & Pompeyfaith---I immediately asked Marshy & di30 from MSE to come and help me too

Unfortunately--she's been a bit poorly lately (more than what she has posted ) and has been off site for a while

Me and Marshy had a marathon here Skyways--probably exceeded the 100 E-Mails we had ferretting out your stuff
                      http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...ighlight=court

Marshy--theres been a few site upgrades since you last here--one of which resulted in all of us losing our "thanks count" so thats why you are light again

                      Take care both of you

If it were me, I would drop a gentle reminder to Carrie O'Leary, Customer Relations Manager at Halifax. (See your recent 'good news' letter)
With proof of postage, of course.
