Now filed: copies of both letters (#25 and #26), with 'Signed For' receipts stapled to them.
      Trackable online.

          BEST DEBT MANAGEMENT SERVICE
I highly recommend the free 'Consumer Credit Counselling Service'.
I strongly do not recommend using paid services for debt management.

BEST BANK ACCOUNT IF YOU'RE STRUGGLING
          A basic bank account.
Read about different account types at the Money Advice Service.
For comparisons of charges on basic bank accounts, see this chart at Money Advice Service
For choice of banks, Wikipedia tells which are the biggest in the UK.

Re: Hello from Christian - Welcome/MKRR problem

Good Saturday afternoon miliitant - I have a reply from Welcome to our CCA request.

Due date for this letter: 8th July (i.e., well on time).

However, the reply I have received does the following:-

[1. Acknowledges receipt of £10 statutory processing fee and]

            2. States that Welcome are "unable to verify (your) identity based on the information that you have provided"!!!!!

OOK, so I spent hundreds of hours on this in 2006, including communication with several ombudsmen and advice agencies. Now I have spent not a small amount of time on this forum and in paperwork and dispatch work, and payment of fees I can barely afford.

(Please bear in mind, I am self-employed. Message to Welcome: this entails working FOR money at some point).

            Apparently, they require:-

            1. Copies of either a passport or driving licence OR
            2. Copy birth certificate OR
            3. Copy marriage certificate OR
            4. Copy bank statement of last 3 months OR
5, Copy utility bill of last 3 months.

They then state that they will "on receipt (of the above item)"..."open this case and respond to you within the appropriate regulatory time frame".

So, let's look at the evidence that they can't identify me:-

            1. THEIR collection agency (I believe) - MKRR - have contacted me at this address numerous times. I had numerous conversations with a 'Brett' about trying to sell violins to pay their 'debt'. In the end I had to change my phone number, because, when I didn't succeed (at repaying their 'debt' this way), they were ringing me repeatedly whilst I was trying to work on the line as a clairvoyant to pay them, raising their voices in anger, as if that was going to help anyone.

            2. I am also ON THE ELECTORAL REGISTER at this address.

            3. I've lived here for TWO YEARS.

            4. My CCA request letter gave my name, address, car loan account number and personal loan number (minus first 3 digits, as taken from credit reference agency, Noddle) AND signature (although this was not advised by yourself).

I'm sorry, but I feel I've paid my dues - am I legally bound to send them any more information - ?????

            Sincerely.

the request started when they received your request

NOT when they receive the requested details to open a case

they are still under the impression they can mess you around

              outrageous

that i take it was a reply to the sar request from welcome, not a cca request

the cca request went to MKRR

This is known as "lack of reasonable care and skill" and an offence against the Sale of Goods and Services Act 1974.

The letter is from a lady in the complaints department and not signed. I believe a regulatory body are now handling all Welcome complaints? (nipping over to their website to check).

did welcome confirm the date they received your sar request

Yes, 31st May (sent 29th May).
