ASEAN is different to an Asia Union concept, as it will include several countries including New Zealand, Australia. Countries in Western Europe will be more likely European Union, countries to the West a separate Union entity is more likely. I think there will be at least 4 unions of which Russia will be incorporated into one. It could be quite concerning as the EU is just a small part of a rather large entity, which in the long term seems there will be a World Government and countries powers such as UK's will likely disappear along the way. I do not think whether we put an X in the no box to EU membership will make a difference. One way or another these Unions will happen it will just take longer if we say 'no' initially.

Free trade Association is different, the EU has European Free Trade Association, the US to the Americans' annoyance have NAFTA (North American Free Trade Association).. but a Union is legal and political, not just a trade, entity.

Clear as mud as per lol.
Are you saying we HAVE to buy lamb from NZ because of some treaty and yet our farmers are going under?

Russia have stopped imports of EU pork so we get it all and again our pork farmers are going down.

Farmers can only keep going with cheap foreign labour ?

Is any of this reasonable or fair, well I don't think so

Actually that is a good point and I will have to have a good mull over it.
I will not bore you all reiterating my views as to why we should remain in the EU but I do feel that ‘alone’ we might be more likely to lean towards America and I believe our ‘special’ friendship is ‘special’ enough. What on earth would it be like if that idiot with the hair that looks like a cross between an old doormat and the back wing of a ford Anglia gets in? Jesus Wept!

I am saying New Zealand lamb is expensive because we do not have the same subsidies for its lamb as we would for some EU trade (that we may not necessarily want or need). We are a country of some 62 million approx. and to feed the population we rely on trade from EU, like EU truckers bring our food and take away our exports. So, if they cut you up owing to being exhausted, or any truck for that matter, remember without truckers we'd probably starve. So, anyway we rely on EU imports because it's cheaper to buy than what it would be from another country that is not in the EU. Our farmers should be getting subsidies so they can make their produce cheaper for the consumer. However, the problem is also the large stores who undercut the smaller businesses including farmers' milk (well not their milk unless they're pregnant females, i meant their cattle's milk), which is why they went parading into those same stores like something out of Jack 'magic beans' Beanstalk. I think the problem is we have been too reliant on EU goods for too long, as its business output is supposed to 40% to our business economy. We simply do not know what it would be like to be out of the EU or what it would be like to not share in the EU's economy (European single market). If we come out of the EU the political and legal union aspect, we are still going to require their services, their cheaper products so there is no getting around it, we'll still have to pay one way or another. The positive would be no longer being ruled by the Brussels' bureaucrats who dominate EU law. I think we need some EU economists who can provide us with independent information rather than relying on the UK's business reps or the UK's politicians who will have vested interests so not impartial advice or information provided.

Ermm NZ lamb is a lot less expensive than ours and always has been as far as I can remember, surprising really when you think how far it travels.

I wasn't really meaning the truckers I was meaning the EU workers brought over for the planting and picking of crops that do not cost as much to employ as our own folks.

NZ has a low value dollar compared to the pound..so yes it makes sense that its lamb would be cheaper. The problem is the export of goods from this country if not to EU countries will usually be expensive.

It's got nothing to do with the exchange rate. The UK has been consistantly importing NZ lamb for 130 years regardless. It's less expensive because of the lower regulatory burden on farmers to produce it and grazing land is far cheaper.
