Re: SITE UPGRADE - Glitches? Report in here!

Well, being a bit on the grumpy side these days, I have to say that (IMO) I do not like the new site at all. The old site was fine - easy, clear, simple. Just what is needed when dealing with a nasty legal tussle. I cannot in all honesty say that the new site improves the old. In fact, it seems to make things slightly harder to find/do.

In general I do find these cosmetic upgrades to online resources frustrating, like the changes to the BBC site. I don't understand why there is this endless need to change/upgrade things that are perfectly OK.

Sorry, this is not really constructive is it, just an opinion. And I am especially grumpy this morning.

at the end of the day it is still the same site, just with the york thing ongoing its taking a little longer to rejigger and get it as polished as it was, given time I am sure it will be just as good, if not better than before the change to stop spammers getting easy access

Re: SITE UPGRADE - Glitches? Report in here!

When i click 'New Posts' it regularly comes up as search results in a list, rather than easily definable separate posts; Upgrade doesn't work fully with Norton Internet Security - the remember password function in it works for the user name, but not password; Can anything be done about 'Notifications' so we don't get notified every time we thank, or someone thanks us?; Is there a way to prioritise the most recent postings in 'New Posts?'

Sorry - been saving them up - not moaning.

Love being able to look back further through chat box so you can actually understand the conversation. I like the look of the upgraded site. I miss the tabs along the top, but suspect they'll be back in one form or another.

Hope you had a good time in York and have a good Bank Holiday!

              xx

Sill showing on my old posts that up until the upgrade I had last posted in April 2011.
Know its not really that important.
Seems fine on IE apart from a couple of times I have had to log back in.
Still problems with the Androoid device so may take you off that as its gettting a bit annoying!
Still getting to grips with the new layout.:tinysmile_aha_t:

Not sure if it helps, but in the layouts there is a default mobile one, perhaps the browser on the phone is trying to make it use the full site version and would be better using the mobile theme, not too good using mobile browsers for sites so forgive me if I am wrong on that one

It's not that, it's a case of rather than putting each post in nice little 'boxes' of their own, it's giving me one massive list of text which is virtually incomprehensible. Only happens some of the time, not all the time.

ah I believe you mean like the old one that had the list up the top, my guess on that is that it will be implemented soon as will most of the other previous parts, or at least thats what I think

No I don't mean like the old one I mean when I click on new posts it comes up with one endless and very long string of text much like this one with nothing to delineanate from any other bit of the text so it makes it extremely hard to work out what are new posts and what are not in fact it not only does that it actually makes you give up trying as if you can imagine a list of posts printed as a list exactly like this post it really is not very user friendly I know you are only trying to help but I know celestine is likely to be on top of the problem anyway and this is probably not the first time it has been reported to her if it is then it is somethng only the site admin are going to be able to address and rectify please don't take this post the wrong way it was the easiest way I could think of of explaining the problem clearly to someone who clearly wants to try and get their head round it hopefully this has helped you to do this and hopefully you realise quite how un-user friendly it makes things when all you get is a long list of incoherent waffle like this thanks for your help though anyway

                              Hi,

Visited the site without logging in and the VIP case law thread is visible. Was this intended or a glitch?

tried to set up "phone" view on Android device, not sure if its because its not actually a phone but a "tablet" type computer, but that is, or seems to be settling down now.
