Well! Santander have been absolutely rubbish. Just closed my account with the completely and am opening a new one with another bank later. The absolute inconsistency in their advice is beyond credulity.

Most likely ... the products are supposed to contain "Dead Sea minerals" according to the adverts ... but without the (obligatory!) ingredient list there's no way of knowing what the product is.

According to the web site of the wholesaler in Israel where they specialise in selling in bulk with your own company's name & logo. I guess these goods could be being sold under Boot's, Tesco. M&S and many other brand names in the market place under their own brand - so would you particularly know how good this goo is????

This is the email I got from the company dated 20/03/2013 giving the Rugby return address:

Please note that you should send us a proof of receipt such as tracking ID or scanned postage receipt.

And this is what the Courier company had to say about the Parcel:

I can confirm the sender of the parcel was TFS Wavelengh. We do not hold an address of return for the sender of this parcel. I would advise you to call them and ask them for there contact details and they should be able to help you with your return.

I sent the goo back to the Rugby address. No further charges have been made to my credit card. I sent it cheapest way possible and got a reciept. Hope this helps. I keep all email correspendence by the way.

Hi, I'm unfortunately the latest victim of this scam. I'm usually very cautious about such offers taking the view that if it seems too good to be true then it usually is. I actually came across the offer whilst using a teaching resources website and was lead to believe I was doing some product testing with my Free Trial. I feel so annoyed at myself for not using my normal caution and checking the smallprint. Fortunately for me, I quickly realised something didn't seem quite right when I didn't receive any confirmation email of my transaction. I've been charged the £3.95 postage but have since cancelled the direct debit card I used. My bank have reassured me that this will stop any further transactions by the company so hopefully that is all I will have lost. In the mean time I have sent an email to the company to tell them I want to send the product back and that I've cancelled my card so no further transactions will be authorised. They have still not replied to any of my emails. I tried calling the number on their website but got through to some foreign sounding person who claimed to be an individual number. I then rang the number of TFS in Rugby but the person I spoke to there was extremely cagey and told me I needed to send the product back to the Israel address and if I tried sending it to them they would return it back to me. I'm hoping that as I've cancelled my card and they can't take any further money from me, they will not go the cost or trouble of returning the goods back to me. I was just wondering if anyone else here who has sent their product back to Rugby have had any problems with it being refused? Also did you send a covering note and if so, what did you put on it? Thanks for any advice

Report the sludge merchants to your local Trading Standards department, as they have not even begun to comply with the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 (link)

Eventually, they may even be prosecuted.

Basically, the product is worthless, so it’s not likely that they’ll make much (if any!) effort to retrieve the tubs of goo (if they’ve already despatched them to you, that is). And I think it’s safe to say that they most definitely won’t be keen to pursue you for cash though the small claims court ... because that would involve having to reveal details about themselves that they really don’t want anyone to know!
                  .
Great news that you’ve cancelled your debit card, and the bank seems to be on your side over this matter. You should be safe!
                  .
I personally didn’t return my tubs of goo to Rugby, so I can’t comment on the whys and wherefores of following that course of action ... sending them to Israel is a complete no-no though. They didn’t come from there in the first place ... so there’s no reason to return them there.
I guess it’s the equivalent of purchasing a dodgy product from a shop ... as the law stands, you return the product to the retailer, not the retailer’s wholesaler! (This is because when you purchase a product you enter into a contract with the retailer: not the wholesaler who supplies goods to the shop).

                    Hi Dottybird

I too thought I was signing up for product testing, but was not aware anything was amiss until money went out of my account.

The following is from one of my earlier posts:

I am posting some of this info for those that are probably guests reading this thread, who have placed an order, and who then want to cancel. There follows a link to a BBC webiste, followed by a Which web site. Re distance selling regs.

                    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theonesho...nce_selli.html

                    http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-righ...g-regulations/

The seller is obliged to provide a geographical address ie a trading address.

i would suggest an email along the lines suggested on the BBC website,

http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/theonesho...s_one_show.rtf but amend to state that you will ot be making any payments for the products.

If the products arrive, then ask the goo sellers for an address in the UK to which the products can be returned.

I sent the goo back to Rugby, and they confirmed safe receipt when I provided the tracking number. However, faced with sending back to Israel, I wouldn't be keen to at all.

Thanks all for your replies. I did consider just not sending the products back, but to be honest, I just want the stuff out of my house. I actually only live 15mins drive from the address in Rugby and was very tempted to drive over there. However, I've decided that I'm going to send it back by recorded delivery with a covering letter and will then email them with the tracking number. Hopefully that will be the last I hear of it.

Just wondering who should I be reporting, DeadSea or the Rugby company who are clearly in on this? Or both?

                          Both.

Let Trading Standards sort out which is guilty and of what.

Personally, I would inform Trading Standards about the activities of both companies, they can make the decisions. If you stick to the facts, provide as much info and detail as possible, it gives them a lot to go on. Making accusations (such as 'these people are crooks' - albeit that I think it is our collective opinion), makes it harder for the TS to get to the bottom of what is really happening.

I had £ 68,82 plus 69,95 taken from my Santander account, although I had returned the goods to the company, without opening them. I did use up the tiny trial pots I had received 4 weeks before. The bank told me that these scams are well known to them, and they will try to retrieve my money.
However, I have not got the address of the company any more. The address on the product was the P.O.Box in Israel, which would not work for recorded delivery. I have big short term memory problems and now can't find where the receipts are for the goods and letter. I remember having seen an address in this post, and believe (hope ) it was the London one.
My problem with this product (apart from the price and the manner we are being duped) is that it does not seem to be suitable for fair and sensitive skin.I have a very clear complexion, but after awhile little white bumps kept appearing, when opened my skin was flaky and in general my slightly rosy cheeks started turning flashed, with pink spots appearing in placed where I had none. Ha anybody else had a negative reaction to this product? And is the Collagenta active Collagen Serum also a product of the same company?
It seems there is no such fool as an old fool!
