We had a copper at the station I was attached to in London with a rude-sounding French surname. He was as English as you or I, but we called him "Frog". One Monday morning, Frog and I had cases before the local magistrates where some newly-appointed JPs were sitting. When Frog stepped into the Witness Box to give evidence and gave his full name, the JPs thought he was being facetious. The chair of the bench said to him, "Do you have another name, officer?" *Yes, Your Worship," Frog replied, "It's Frog."
