  • Signover my part of house

I have been asked to sign over my portion of the equity in our current home in order for my husband ( of 19yrs) to buy a new home for us. The reason is the mortgage will be solely in his name is because l haven't been able to put my name on the mortgage ( due to debt) and as a result l am not able to be added onto the Deeds ( there is a small 150K mortgage taken out by my husband on the new property). The reason for the question is:* my husband has had affairs - lies easily - and will do almost anything to get his way. I am trapped in poverty ...... I just need to understand that if l take a leap of faith and do this how much trouble could l be in store for?

If you sign over your equity without being paid for it then your husband will own all the equity in the new property. Is the equity needed as a deposit and the mortgage on top to reach the value?

The solicitor can register you both on the titles deeds at the time of completing the new purchase with a charge for you share of the equity meaning if your husband tried to sell he would have to pay you that share.
