  • What's the story behind your username?

The thread is as it says above. Normally we choose a username that is personal to us or might be that we like the cartoon character/tv personality.
    What's your story?

Leclerc, basically, I have had multiple usernames across forums and many people have spotted them quite quickly which would indicate I am crap as disguises. As the nattie/NWSM name was no longer needed as such, since I was no longer a member of staff then I went with the Allo Allo character of leclerc who was equally as rubbish at me at being someone else.

    Over to your guys.

Mine is cos i set upp an email when i lived in Wales to contact welsh companies and others to make them think i was welsh i found from experience it worked also my mum was welsh,i have email addresses in the name and also in my real name i prefer to have a little anoynimity on the net not for any other reason all the pass words associatec with the name are the same with different suffixes now im back in england i kept it mainly for forums and enquiries wher id expect to get junk mail in return i also give a welsh phone number,
i often get emails saying we tried to contact you by phone shows me i was right,
Theres nothing sinister in my motives i just think that too many people put too much info on the internet

My son got me 2 black kittens...I wanted to call them Midnight/Cleopatra and various other names (Bageera/Boadecia) amongst many.
My OH and son named the boy WINSTON.........
Me and sons G/f named the girl.....INCA
My other cats are Patch (boy) and Millie (girl)....Millies a 'proper' name so I plumped for Inca.

and I've just noticed that Inca is an anagram of my real name minus 2 letters msl:

Re: What's the story behind your username?

I must admit, I thought your 'Nattiepig' avatar went well with your abbreviated 'Nattie' username, Monsieur L - but all things must pass.

Boring, I know, but I have kept my username the same since I first started throwing my carp at reclaim sites, so Bill is me and 'K' is my surname initial. I would like to think I am chivalrous, but the truth is I am merely a 'K' without a horse. As a bit of a 'midnight toker,' I have a tendency to reply to posts in the early hours, but some people might think of me as 'Maurice,' in the Steve Miller 'The Joker' sense.

I saw peeps using ingenious avatars in the first forum I joined (SurlyBond's Muppet Show was one of my fave Ave's - along with dear bewigged and befuddled BankFodder's of course, which got given a red nose on the appointed day). I eventually found that a vacancy seemed to exist for a grumpy g'rilla, and I decided to use a King Kong piccie for an avatar. This was eventually replaced by the current 'digitally enhanced' guy, which seems to convey my attitude toward those who pretend to respect endangered species, such as banks and politicians.

Natch, of course...I am a skinny balding wretch with less brain cells than teeth - and I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep up the pretence. Life may imitate art - but art eventually challenges life, and the winner of the duel lives on. Ars Longa, Vita Brevis - and I hope that what I try and construct down here will live beyond me.

          There - that'll teach you to start provocative threads, M. L !!!

Ok my username is a childhood nickname that I am unsure of origin.

some say its because when I was tiny, I had white blonde ringlets and looked like a powder puff, others say its cos I started smoking aged 13, and others say I've always been a bloody dragon... The choice, is yours

My username, Bluebottle, is an old slang term for a police officer, which I was for a number of years. I juggled with other slang terms, like Rozzer, but finally plumped for the one I have had since joining LB. One slang term for a police officer, Bizzy, seems to be peculiar to Merseyside. If anyone can shed any light on this, I would be interested to learn more about the origin of the term.

                  Dear Wales,

It's an easy mistake to make. He and I are very similar - but with a few subtle differences. I don't quite have the muscle-build of the gorillagram model I employed for my avatar. And perhaps a little less hair, if the truth be told. I can still fully extend my central digit as he does - but only for limited periods of time.

The "Up Thine" attitude, however, remains the same !!!

                  ....Ars Longa !!!

The Magic Dragon seems right to me, Puff - no offence intended !!!

I think I started on fags at about 15, and the first one I tried was a menthol one. "Consulate - Cool as a Mountain Stream.," - I think they actually advertised those fags during our kidz Saturday Morning Piktures, along with Kia-Ora and Mivvi's. All available in the Foyer, of course.

Never heard of the 'Bizzy' slangname, BB. I recall the old TV 'The Sweeney' term that was often used - "The Filth."

Sure - the 'Blue Meanies' weren't exactly everybody's idea of fun, but if we had opted to dispose of "The Filth" down the loo, then I reckon we would be down there with them right now. It may not be perfect, but there's still a structure in place - and the Bluebottle is as much a part of that as the rest of us 'orrible characters.

In the Blue Light services, it is not unusual for those who work in them to be given a nickname. Names like "Metal Mickey", "Duracell", "Bald Eagle", "Frog" and "The Chocolate Frog" are just some of them. Some acquired their nicknames after incidents. One inspector on my shift managed to reverse an incident car into a tree. For months after, he was known as "Crack-A-Tree Kirk". A sergeant managed to collide with a belisha beacon and then a bus shelter, demolishing both. At that time, a film with the title "Demolition Man" was on in the cinemas and the sergeant was known, thereafter, as "Demolition Man".

N.B. The names of those involved in incidents have been changed to spare their blushes.
