The information I am given by my contacts is quite limited and unofficial (due to Data Protection etc), all I can tell you is that the "unusual" transfers in stating "horsebox" occurred around July 2015.

I can try get more info but would not want to compromise the relationship we have with our contacts by putting their positions in jeopardy.
Any opinions I give are my own. Any advice I give is without liability. If you are unsure, please seek qualified legal advice.

Fraud fallout
In recent weeks, we’ve seen a number of cases where bank customers have been the victims of fraud — but when they’ve tried to report it they have failed to get through to the right department.
More often than not, it’s because the crime was spotted at the weekend or late in the evening.

Fraud fallout: Bank customers are struggling to get the help they need when their accounts are attacked

It seems that while it is relatively easy to cancel a card if its stolen, it is not so simple to stop fraudulent payments leaving your account.
Conmen work round the clock — yet bank fraud departments don’t seem to.
This week, the Financial Ombudsman found that £4.3 million has been lost because banks failed to act swiftly enough when fraud occurred.
This is totally unacceptable. Banks are increasingly holding their customers to account when they fall for ruthless and convincing frauds.
If someone suffers a loss because a bank’s fraud department can’t act swiftly enough to stop payments leaving, then they must repay the money immediately.

I realise the precarious situation you are in and would need to tread carefully, your efforts are very much appreciated.

Apologies if I overlooked your post Tom Cat and thank you for messaging me a reminder.

It seems in your case, both your own bank and also Barclays have acted very slowly and made things difficult for you to report. I would suggest you use these facts to raise a complaint with the FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service) , you can read how to complain here https://ombudsman.faq-help.com/faqtA...idget=lbl01085

Detail all steps you took once you were aware it was a fraud and how each bank made it difficult to report and that you were made aware funds were still remaining in the account.

Hi,

my thread is just below.... 1430... would you mind having a look... I'm kind of a loosing my hope after receiving the email from Barclays... wanting to compensate me with 7.66 pounds to keep my mouth shut, saying

'At the time your funds were received into this account we had no knowledge or suspicions that this was anything other than a legitimate account.' They have also added: 'We can confirm that the account into which you transferred money has been closed down.'

Just that - and nothing else.

Look forward to your reply,

My story:

Main body
I have been a victim of an online vehicle scam. I came across the add on 07/12/2015, got in touch with the seller Ian Taylor via email

Further on I got in touch with the shipping company via email, they sent through the agreement for the sale of a motor vehicle, representing a seller in the name of a shipping company Admark Shipping Solutions Ltd.
The only provided bank details after I sent through the signed and scanned copy of the agreement. I have also received a letter on behalf of their client.

Going through the email correspondence you will see the payment of 4735,00GBP has been initiated on the 8/12/2015 in the evening and the money reached their account on 9/12/2015 in the morning.
We agreed for the car to be delivered on Friday 11/12/2015 at 4pm. The car never arrived; I send emails without response and I tried dialing the number provided on the agreement – and got no response. After having done some internet research I found out I was a victim of online fraud. I got in touch with Barclays, reported the fraud and filed the case under Actionfraud.police.uk.

Is there anything else I could do?

BMW 3 SERIES 2.0 318i SE 4 dr £4999
YH10 HPJ. TEL:07513 xxxxxx

Having tried to call the number on this ad with no reply I sent a text stating that I was interested if the vehicle was still for sale. I received a text response from "Autotrader" telling me to email the seller at the following email address
Xxxxx@bbc-music.co.uk.
I emailed as requested and was told that the vehicle was in Scotland and the seller would have it delivered at no cost. When I responded saying that my partner was working in Scotland and could possibly view the vehicle I received the following.

Here is my address KW14 xxx - Thurso you can come and collect yourself but also I have requested personal support and I was approved to use Buyer Protection Program, so i decide to sell it just by eBay.
Here is how the process works:
- I will list the car on eBay Motors for £4,999 and I will send you a link to my auction, so you can buy it immediate
- you have to pay for the item to eBay to secure the funds,
- they confirm me that they received the funds,
- I deliver the car,
- you receive the car,
- they send me the money.
Here you can read eBay Buyer Protection Program

In case you are not familiar with them, please read their Buyer Protection and will see that they cover 100% the transaction done through them up to £50,000. You will receive the car with all the documents. As you know eBay is the best company of online transactions. If indeed interested in it and have the funds, I will list it on eBay, as I have a 100% positive feedback with them.
Please let me know your decision.

Having checked online it would seem this fits with other instances of a scam where the vehicle is at the northern most point of Scotland, the seller is using what is supposedly a BBC email address and offering free delivery if paid through a supposedly safe 3rd party.

If I'm wrong about this I've obviously just missed out on a real bargain.
