Thanks for your quick response. Statements of evidence in criminal cases have to conform to certain protocols, statutes and statutory instruments. At the end of the day, it will be down to Lothian & Borders Police whether they accept the statement Mr Bod took from you. Don't be surprised if your local police ask you for a statement on behalf of Lothian & Borders Police. With the evidence to hand, Mr Bod wouldn't have had much choice but to report the car stolen.
