They seem to have ignored it.
If they were all under 18 there would have to be an appropriate adult present even before the police dealt with this. Looks bad on all including the police, as they were right in how they disposed of the situation, but they should have had an appropriate adult present at the time.
Kane were the police told your age?

The point I was trying to make (and still didn't quite) was that the checks were done, but as part of the SC/DV process and not in the same context as that of a check on a Teacher etc, so in the context of the thread it was a bit misleading to state that the MOD require Enhanced Disclosure, (you don't even get the certificate to prove the checks been done.. lol)

If I remember right one of the first questions on my DV form was " Are you now or have you ever been, a member of a Terrorist Group?"......

How far do you think you would have got if you said YES....?

As for the certain sites.... I live in North Yorkshire so yeah I Know which sites and have served in most of them that are up here.

I can see what you're getting at now.

The temptation to answer that question, "Which one?", or "Judean People's Front" or "People's Front of Judea"

Not far, but would anyone be stupid enough to answer "Yes"?

As for the certain sites.... I live in North Yorkshire so yeah I Know which sites and have served in most of them that are up here. I was down in the South for most of my career. The furthest North I went was Cambridgeshire. Some of my colleagues went up to Fylingdales, but not moi.

Re: caught shoplifting in primark - age 16

WARNING: Unpopular post coming (look away now).

I want to repeat, as a parent and grandparent (indeed an ex-teenager), that, however appalling the behaviour of RLP, Primark and the police (I don't disagree with you all on all that) shoplifting was a BAD DECISION on the OP's part - peer pressure or not.

I truly hope, Kane, that you will not see "peer pressure" as a valid motivation in the future. Shoplifting is not a victimless crime and you need to grow the balls to resist pressure from your "friends" to do stuff you know is wrong. What comes next?

Just my opinion, though, for you to take or leave.

post deleted the law regarding the treatment of minors is specific, and unfortunately the security goon may have left himself and Primark open to criticism if not a felt collar due to not providing an appropriate adult before the police were called.

Just to say I object to the last post and the comment 'Let's be honest, you were a twat for shoplifting' I consider myself to be a very honest and upstanding person now, but I will admit in my youth I did take on a dare from my peers and had a dabble as I am sure lots of us have.
You do learn by your mistakes if you are sensible and able to take on board a lesson, some don't and they end up being serial offenders for one reason or another. I honestly think for a one off and no major loss (lets face it Primark, it was probably 2p) and I am no way condoning theft, I think this should have never even been referred to anyone except internal securuty and then written off.

Agreed, RLP should butt out hopefully lesson learned and OP doesn't repeat the mistake. However due to RLP and their speculative invoice the worms have eaten the lid off the can, and are crawling loose.

You only learn if you realise how stupid the mistakes were. If you try to justify them, or blame others .....

I wasn't trying to excuse why I had a dabble at shop lifting, just how it happened, I was dared and went ahead.
I never was in the position I had to steel to survive or anything like that and hope i never will be. Just trying to say peer pressure was alive and kicking a long time ago, today though it is a lot more prevalent and serious than it was back then and should be taken into consideration a lot more than it is.

No one is condoning or condemning Kane its a hard lesson hes learnt here.

The problem is how the security goons the shop and the Police acted which appears to be unlawful, they must be brought to account there are after all proper procedures in place and these must be adhered to or we have a vigilanity force of idiots in a uniform with a badge doing what they want

I have to agree with what you say, Wales. Private security is getting to the point where they close to getting out of control and need reining in. I can also see CR being exposed for the con it is and the retail industry getting it in the neck big-time.

Nope. But once the public find out what a con CR is, it is they who will give it to the retail industry in the neck by voting with their feet.

What did that one say compared to the first, as they are on a fishing expedition and hope you or your parents bite, make sure they read this thread and phone Kate on Tuesday.
