Locking the door could amount to unlawful detention

The primark security guard called in the primark manager and then shut the door and was standing there most of the time until the police came.

It was one of those doors that had a number keypad on it that you had to put in a code to unlock it from the outside

          Kane,

From what you have posted today, this matter is now very serious indeed. Your parents must speak to Kate on Tuesday without failure. Were you in the room on your own or was someone in the room with you? If so, whom?

In the room there was me and my 2 other mates, the security guard and the primark manager. Then the police came and the security guard was in with us and the police for a while.

At which point if at all did the security guard or the manager ask how old you were? when he grabbed you? when he got you into the room? or didn't ask your age at all? This is very important to help Kate when your parents phone her

I think we need to find out whether this goon and manager are CRB-checked to Enhanced Level. If they are not, Primark could be in serious trouble. The reason I say this is because you and your mates are under the age of 18 years. There is also the issue of adults who are vulnerable due to learning difficulties or health issues.

Don't think store staff and goons come under CRB disclosure, I asked just that at a Safeguarding seminar with other Agencies they said that they were left out of the scheme as are police officers but prison Officers do require enhanced disclosure. The goon may need CRB but the shop manager likely not. Will check this out as if they don't that is a serious flaw.

We do need to know at which point in the narrative age came out, and how the goon and manager reacted to the information.

Prison officers, definitely. Police forces require Enhanced Disclosure for certain posts and some police force have it as a requirement of their recruitment and selction process. The Ministry of Defence Police is one force requiring Enhanced Disclosure. Any private security goon coming into contact with vulnerable individuals and children on a regular basis would require Enhanced Disclosure.

Enhanced CRB checks are required for posts involving a far greater degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults involving regular caring for, supervising, training or being in sole charge of such people i.e. Teacher, Scout or Guide leader. Enhanced Disclosures contain the same information as the Standard Disclosures but with the addition of local police force information considered relevant by Chief Police Officer(s).

Sorry bluebottle but you are wrong and I don,t know where you got that info from.

MOD Police are not required to be CRB checked, I never was in the years I served. At a base level they are Security Checked or if you were at the sites I worked at, DV level. I held the highest security clearance in the land for the first 5 years of my career and believe me the checks for both are much more than that required by a CRB.

Enhanced Disclosure is only required for regular and prolonged activity with or regular and prolonged sole supervision of, children and/or vulnerable adults as quoted above, so "Security Goons" as you and others call them would not need to be.

                          Brain not working.....

MOD police ARE checked but not for same reasons as an Enhanced Disclosure as in this case, ie the contact with children/vulnerable adults. The SC/DV checks do cover the same grounds but the checks are for different reasons.

Need to get brain working before I reply LOL

                          Sorry all.....

They seem to have ignored it.

Being ex-MDP myself, I can remember being put through some pretty stringent checks due to part of the base I was at having certain functions that required a higher level of clearance than would normally be required. I did see something on the the MDPGA website about CRB checks back along. However, CRB checks had not come into being when I was in the job. I know what you mean about the PV checks applicable to service at certain establishments. You probably know which ones I am talking about.

I am aware that private security contractors whose personnel work within UKBA and H.M. Prison Service have to go through some pretty stringent checks which may well be CRB. If they don't, then something is seriously wrong.
