Had spare inks just in case = that is where trouble started, you are using these cheap inks they are the problem?? your use must be high, No I state about 7 - 12 sheets a week 2x page minutes and few copies and then some home use. (indicates I am wrong)? then states send it back to Epsom but they are closed for 3 weeks holiday, and no doubt they will agree the inks caused some problem (The one they never come across)??

He pointed out on epsom box they have monthly offer inks i suppose to use that?? says print 500 sheets on the ink? never have i had a printer do that! he also stated that cheaper inks caused the problem again and that it no doubt caused the faulty unit>?? so my fault and they will state same??

I showed him gobbly gook printing from computer, saying i waste time as a scan print clears it only then does the computer print good copy? , I stated hang on the cost of replacement inks are near the price of new printers are you saying you pay the inks yet new printer nearly the same price... I am a technician he kept stating and he knows indication?!! so have I been one thing or another when i worked years ago but never shouted at customers ( take it home if you do not like it)??

Another chap he called over under his breath agreed with me on original prices. so I stated send it back but if as he says you will have to pay for the part if the fault Quote!;- Using cheaper inks (£10 = cheaper )?do not repair and keep but let me know, details taken, sale of goods act ((Currys again)??? looking for another make one now different make been on epsom for decade or more thru them as well, could be month or more as need one for weekly 1-2 page minutes and relevant copies. need one as long wait else and needed weekly.

I have used canon for years, current printer mg3650, no problems with them.
I get a kit off fleabay to refill cartridges, original ones of course just in case lol

You bought it end of August, so you might still be able to do a Chargeback.
It might be an idea to see if others have had the same problem, Google search
fault code. Curry's will give you the standard line regardless. If everyone is using
the cheap inks, which most people would be, then the Curry's employees would
have loads of complaints, but they say you are the first, go figure.

I use two lazer printers, one black, one colour. I use two black cartridges a year and one colour. I would never go back to ink jet.

cost of maintenance box £7-9 pounds ordered one delivery monday, will go into currys later to-day and collect the printer (hopefully unless he tries to say it has gone off Xmas Day! remembering they are closed for 3 weeks he stated) , anyway will need it also try expensive inks as per his statement, any further problems back to them, also epson have seen an email from me asking about problems no reply but my system states read date/time?

It used to be that compatible cartridges were not recommended as the particles were not ground fine enough and blocked the jets.

I used Epson printers for years, swore by them, but the latest ones seemed expensive, printer and ink, and noisy so switched to HP, HP Envy 5546 to be exact.

Very pleased with it. About £40 at the time. Auto Duplex, wireless, separate feed for photo paper and have this instant ink scheme. I pay a couple of quid a month for 100 pages and a new cartridge appears when the system thinks I'm about to run out. Unused pages carried forward.

Wireless allows me to print from computer, of course, plus tablets and smart phones.

Didn't particularly want the scanner but handy for instant copies.

Well I went into currys just now the chap not there, but plenty of staff on customer service area asked for the item back a I have the said part arriving Monday only cost £9, they said cannot find it, I stated only brought it back Friday and you closed saturday, they looked through 2 of
3 cupboards behind then and there it was. so record on their computer i collected it back meantime I noticed paperwork in the box and grabbed it:

              Quote:- Tank is full:-
Customer using non-official Epson ink and discarding this as a cause of problem. Says he can print 7 pages (Colour I stated he not reference that) pages per cartridge. Have informed customer :- quote:- (Highlighted)., "HE WILL BE CHARGED"! very rude and arrogant.

              Being sent off to EPSON.

Rude? he was talking me down and refusing to listen to problems with printing from computer and having to scan/copy (not neded print so extra) that cleared and allowed computer print to work.

For now I have a part coming to-morrow also epson inks and see if he is right and the computer printing problem is cleared?

I'd write a Formal Letter of Complaint, mark it as such, send it to the CEO. Explain what's happened poor service (being called rude / arrogant, when he wasn't listening - ask the question, has he actually been trained to listen?), explain why it's caused issues / distress to you (being without printer / being called rude / arrogant) and what you want them to do (compensate you for the poor service).
Attach a copy of the paperwork stating you were called 'rude and arrogant'.

                Email it to:

                Alex Baldock
                Chief Executive
                Dixons Carphone

                alexander.baldock@dixonscarphone.com

On a side note he's the professional so has to deal with you in a professional manner, you can be as rude and arrogant (a lot of customers tend to be when they are annoyed) as you like, but it's how he deals with you that's important, did you have a good retail experience, NO.

MIKE770 I found the same with Curry's staff over the past 25 yrs....However, I can relate to the printer saga. I found with these cowboys, that the best way forward with their printers, especially on the cheaper end of the market, is to purchase their 3 year replacement plan, which is currently £10.50 or something, especially if you use it a lot (it will pay off) I had 2 cheaper end Canon printers this year from them (about £40), and they both died within the same month, with the same fault...easy peasy...just exchange it for another of the same cost. Being fed up with the same faults though, I upgraded to the canon TS6650 , just over a hundred Quid which is an amazing printer. The 3 year replacement plan still stands and the printer cartridges have no problem with the Turkish refill ink. Canon ink cartridges are much cheaper than the others, if you don't wish to refill.
They can't really argue with the replacement plan, as it's a no quibble legal contract, no matter what goes wrong.

"received items so will fit PM to-day and see if now working correctly as per I am A Technician (Currys) guy!!" and see if i having to scan/print something the computer prints correctly at times, also the continue noise of ink being loaded (which should only be on installation)., as that is why empty ink refills once a week especially coloured inks and waste to tank?? if still like it a major fault in the printer from day one as invoices kept buying every 2 weeks replacements?

27th December 2021 - Joined their ink plan also 3 year insurance, seems ok, but wonder main fault could be from new the continually seems to be re-charging after limited use??

It does sound as though it has not recognised the cartridge as a previously installed one and is continually recharging the ink as though it was a newly installed cartridge.

If you're re-filling them yourself, you shouldn't get any issues, you can refill an original cartridge up to about 7 times before having to buy a genuine one again. If you buy the cartridge already filled for you....you can get problems...plus, you don't know what quality of ink you're getting really.
