Made a complaint to Egg over ppi added to a credit card, they responded with 'you ticked the box so we wont deal with your complaint' also stated that it was their final response so I took it to the FOS.
Not long after I filed my complaint, the FOS wrote stating that Egg had ageed to
Refund PPI & would write to me with details of what would be refunded, also enclosed with the FOS letter was an 'acceptance form' which they stated I had to sign in order for Egg to proceed with the refund.
Egg did not forward any offer & just sent a cheque & stated it was refund of premiums plus 8% simple interest. I complained to Egg that they were supposed to write with a breakdown of the refund for my consideration & that my complaint still stands and thst I accepted their cheque in part settlement only.
They refused to deal with my complaint any further & stated that I signed the FOS acceptence form so thats that. Took it back to the FOS and said I wasnt satisfied with Eggs settlement, just received a phone call from the FOS who stated that they will reopen my complaint but I was shocked when they stated that as Egg made the refund it was made as a gesture of 'goodwill' & that if I wanted the FOS to investigate my complaint they would do so but warned me that if they (FOS) found that the PPI was not mis sold I would have to repay Egg all the money paid.
Incidently ppi complaint was made under ppi box already ticked on the online application & that I was self employed with no fixed contracts.
