I will let others look at the position with the information you hve provided an hopfully someone will post up on the legal side of this.

Also, the money you paid upfront was that to be deduced from te final amount due?

Is the total of the amount they are trying to collect from you the agreed amount which you signed for with Cento?
Thanks for the reply Tuttsi,

I'll be in a better position to answer these questions tonight when I arrive back home.

On the subject of V.A.T, I did ask a Phil Owen on the telephone about a VAT No, he did say he could get me one!!

I'll be back on tonight once I've been through all the paper work. Cheers.

I've attached the pre-contractual agreement. It says "Our solicitors will endevour to recover legal expenses" or words to that effect.

Should I ask for a court reference number? I don't think this claim made it to court as Lloyds TSB did admit to misselling.

CCR's welcome email.:

Welcome to the one stop shop for reclaiming back money that is rightfully yours. Here at CCR Claims we specialise in helping clients get back money that they thought was long gone.
Much has been published regarding the miss-selling of financial products by the major lenders in the U.K over the last 15 years, but many people don’t realise or don’t want to believe that they have been miss-sold to, but the reality is that millions of people across the U.K have been affected by this.
We specialise in 2 areas of this financial sector, the first being Payment protection insurance (P.P.I) this is a policy added onto a loan agreement to protect you against unemployment/sickness and in an ideal world would pay your loans for a period when you are unable to do so, but the sad reality is that without the policy being sold correctly it is not worth the paper it is written on. We have a 85% success rate on cases that include P.P.I.
The second area we specialise in is Unenforceable loans (This is when a loan breaches the consumer credit act set up to protect you against miss-selling) in these cases when an agreement is deemed as unenforceable any outstanding balances can be potentially written off leaving you debt free.
You have already made the first step to reclaiming your money by speaking to your claim advisor so here are a few frequently asked questions to help you understand more fully what CCR Claims will be doing for you.
FAQ

How long will my claim take?
All claims are different, but generally we aim to get our clients a full settlement within 6-8 months of us receiving the original agreements from your lender, this can be considerably speeded up if you have the original agreement from the lender

Will I need to pay anything upfront?
The fee for processing your claim will be discussed with an advisor at the time your order was placed

Will I be charged if my claim fails?
No, definitely not, on the contrary if all your potential claims prove unsuccessful we will refund in FULL any administration fee, making this process 100% risk free for you the client.
Does the policy itself have to be unreasonable or defective for me to win?
No, you have a valid claim if you were pressured into taking out the policy, or if the real costs and conditions were not made clear at the time.
Will you claim back 100% of my premiums paid?
Yes, and this will be repaid to you in full + interest.
If I’ve paid off my loan/mortgage some time ago, can you still help me make a claim?
Yes. In most cases, we can reclaim charges for the past six years irrespective of whether the account is still open.
What if my question isn't answered here?
Feel free to call us on 01792 762387 and speak to one of our highly trained Advisers, who will be happy to help.

Welcome Mr D

It is good that you received your money directly to your account - that is good news.

Cento and Lifestyle are one and the same company underumbrella of their Ltd Company. I am not a legal expert but would have thought that Cento could have still come after you as I am sure you must have signed the forms with them which would have entitled them to their agreed commission.

As you say they are chasing you under the umbrella of Lifestyle which is not who the contract was signed. When you are back home can you please post up the original agreement with Cento (omitting your personal details) as it may be that the contract was with the Ltd Company. and not the trading name.

Are you interested talking about your experiences with this Claims Management Company on a documentary for National TV, please let me know.

We signed up to Cento Client Review a couple of years ago, paid them £299 and some administration fees, £10 for bank administration for each claim form(4). We got a phone call from Swansea asking if we wanted to "fast track" our claim for another £300. We refused. Months and months went by with no more contact from CCR and then letters from Legal Redress and Ultimate Law started arriving wanting us to fill in claim forms. We ignored these. We kept an eye on the legal proceedings as 3 claims, credit card, mortgage and bank loan were with Lloyds TSB.

We then recieved another claim pack from Lifestyle Claims which is still in the drawer. To cut a long story short, we won our 3 claims from Lloyds TSB who paid us directly into our account and by cheque. The problem now is Lifestyle Claims are sending letters demanding £2,000+ for their work!! Iasked Lifestyle Claims to email me any documents with my signature giving them permission to start my claims. They sent a signed claim form, my signature, but it was the Cento Cleint Review claim form. Should I pay Lifestyle Claims this £2,000+?

I can go into more detail when I get back home to Scotland as all my paper work is there. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Following my conversation today with the production company they have asked me to find someone who has used a Claims Management Company where they have been asked to pay upfront fees, then have been asked to pay further fees to continue with their claim which has then put them in a vunerable situation pushing them into a hardship situation. Can you please urgently PM me if this has happened to you and you would be prepared to take part.

Thanks for the info. We are not looking to claiming anything back with regards to loans etc....we don't want to do anything like that. But the credit card charges is quite interesting though. It may be worth pursuing. To be honest, we have not had a chance to read any more about it as this only happened yesterday and I'm very busy today. As soon as we do and we decide what to do we will post again. I just wanted to share my cold cold horror story (well, my fiancee).

Not heard of that one tbvh Who actually would be distributing the money the government????if it does not make sense it is more than likely not true.

Did your financee pay the £360 upfron fee?

Many of our members have struggled to get the money back even after several years and todate we really are unaware of anyone actually recovering monies through the Claims Management companies.

Bank charges are a definate no go after the OFT lost bank charges case a few years back.

Credit Cards you can do this by simply writing a letter, many here have recovered all charges in relatively a short time in some cases about 9 days with just a simple letter.

Writing off credit card / loan agreements - is extremely dodgey territory I am afraid as many have come unstuck. We do not support this type of claim on this site.

The only other type of claim which you can claim is for PPI, as this has in a recent high court case gone in favour of the people who have been forced to take this type of insurance. Claims have been on hold during the claim in court but they are now being dealt with.

We have a wealth of information here on this site for you to be able to progress these claims yourself and save ££££'s. Also, when someone plucks a figure out of thin air for £9k I would really think twice. No one can possibly know what is involved as they are not privvy to your banking and personal details.

Yesterday, my fiancee got cold called by Client Connection Ltd (who i see are affiliated with Cento). They basically spoke to her for 45mins (!!) about recovering bank and loan charges. She was told they could recover £9000 for her"deduced from the next to nothing details my fiancee gave them apparently) and would keep %30 of the final recovered , plus 8% of the interest on the 9k and she had to pay £360 up front but that would be refunded if the claim was unsuccessful.

Apparently the woman cold caller was very very convincing (as they are), even telling my fiancee that she herself hates cold callers!

Obviously my fiancee told them we need to think about it, but was told she only had till 1pm today and they would only call her back once and if she didnt go with them now she would miss her chance. Crazy huh?

She then went on to tell her that she can claim back any old credit agreements i had, like store cards, protection plans, late charges all the way back from 1974. Is this true? I though it only went back 7 or 8 years..

From reading though the posts here, i think I'm going to read the posted booklet and write to our banks ourselves, see what happens

Have you written to them, given them a final letter before action?

have you contacted your card holder from where the money was taken?

Have you contacted the Ministry of Justice, as they authorise them.

Just checked on Companies house and they are still trading.
