Some time ago my wife closed her HSBC bank account and moved to Co-op. Everything was fine and she received confirmation in writing from HSBC that the account was now closed.
then, around four months later she received a letter stating that a certain Payday loan company were demanding repayment of a loan.
Hsbc then reopened the account for the sole purpose of my wife paying the loan company.
What grounds do they have to do this?
Also, why is it of any concern to HSBC as to whether a third party is claiming she owes them money?
Just to clarify- my wife is in dispute with that loan company.
Any information/advice would be appreciated
