    Re: Hardship case assistance please?

mmmmm worth another go at child tax credits then I think. Its based on last years income (which is daft)....can't hurt. As it stands you are £480 in debit each month. The main issue is the childcare cost - as without that you are £120 in credit - but yes if you are stuck with a 6 month contract and you are job hunting hopefully its temporary...when does the contract end? I can understand the difficulty having 3 kids myself and looking for a job - its hard to find work when you don't have childcare organised and waiting lists can be excessive and restrictive. Other than that your budget looks okay.

In your hardship application I am assuming you have cited the over £500 and change in circumstances.

And sorry I've been rude, Welcome to Beagles xxxx

              Hi Bony

              Welcome to leagle Beagles.

I have been looking at your I & E and there are a few items which either seem very low such as food to feed a family £25 per week and extremely high £100 petrol = £1,200 pa. Another high one struck me as telephone £50 p.mth £600 pa. There are a lot of deals out there where you pay £19.99 and all local calls are included.

HSB are notoriously bad for considering hardship cases as you are aware so before the case could be considered to be put forward more work will have to be done. They only have to consider a hardship claim if you fall within the FSA waiver rules for hardship.

Are you in arrears on any of your mortgage payments and or utilities!

Do you have any other debts not mentioned, like credit cards, other loans etc!

Do you pay a lot in charges with your bank or credit cards each month!

Do you have any court cases where you owe money!

If you could add any further details it would be helpfull.

Also a question for Ame - can working tax and child credits be claimed as the income is low!

I also heard an advert on the radio this last week that earnings under a certain amount? - you get free childcare! this might also be worth looking into. I this this is it! http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Educatio...ners/DG_172003

Sorry to ask so many question, but we want to get this right for you.

Just a point which may be worth publicising. If something costs 100 pw then this is not 400 per month. It's £433.00. There are not 4 weeks in a month, so you can't just automatically multiply weeky x 4 to get monthly outgoings (or incomings, for that matter). If something is weekly then it should be multiplied by 4.33 to get a monthly figure. Otherwise it will throw all the calculations out and not give a true figure for working with.

food was wrong and has been updated.

                  fuel bills are correct.

                  no to arrears.

small credit card £1000 - nil balance

average £100 a month in bank charges

                  no court cases owe money

re tax credits been declined (my partner went through app process)

thanks for link re childcare - but you have to be training (and have household earnings of -£20,000 (my wife earns more than that)

                  thanks for help

Wendy thanks for pointing that out and know how to do it more acurately but it was just a rough figure just demonstrating how low it was.

                      Re: Hardship case assistance please?

Tutts, I wasn't actually pointing it out to you, in fact I hadn't even read your post lol. I just thought it was worth pointing out to everyone in general, as it's something a lot of people do. And in cases of hardship where everything is scrutinised and every penny counts, then we need to make sure that the correct figures are in place, as that extra .33 can make a lot of difference especially to disposable income.

                        Re: Hardship case assistance please?

I do month multiplied by 12 then divide by 52 to get weekly figures. And weekly multiplied by 52 and divide by 12 to get monthly.

Bony - could you post up a copy of the letters you sent to HSBC and FOS claiming hardship...see if theres anything you may have missed.

The only things that stick out to me are

                                £100 a month to feed 2 adults & 3 kids - I spend about that a week for 2 Adults & 2 kids
£600 a month for childcare - Do you need this whilst one person isnt working?

You are showing no debts whatsoever, ie credit cards, loans etc
