  • Horsemad v Natwest Financial hardship claim

Hello, I first started my claim with Natwest at the end of December 2008 and seem to have hit a brick wall.

I sent them the standard letters from this site and they requested I complete their financial statement. This I did and sent back to them by recorded delivery on the 17th february 2009. I again heard nothing so sent them a LBA by recorded delivery 2nd March. They then replied last week to say that they had never recived my completed financial statement and proof of debts - funny cos I have the reciept for proof of delivery and they received the LBA perfectly ok...... I then got another letter last week saying that they no longer considered me in Financial hardship as they had not recieved my financial statement and my claim would be put on hold like everyone else's.

I have been sending my letter's to my local branch but all the replies I've had have come from their Head Office - what should I do now. I know they've received my financial statement as it was recorded delivery but how should I play it next? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Never send letters to the local natwest Branch. I will get you an address to send it to. Did you keep a copy of the FH form?

First of all, ring this number 0845 3030 456
They deal with Financial Hardship. Explain to them that the branch was sent the Income and expenditure form and would appear not to have sent it onto the right department. Can the bank take an income and expenditure form over the phone now as their local branch have lost it?

Thank you for that - but surely if I have proof of receipt, someone in the local branch has signed for it and so knows what has happened to it?!

Yes I have kept a copy of the FH form, but to be honest I probably owe more now than I did a month ago -so is it really accurate, should I not fill out a new one? I am at work at the mo and sit in a really large open plan offfice so don't really want to discuss it over the telephone here, is this 0845 number open in the evenings?

I have worked in branches. They may well have either sent it to lending centre, or god knows where. You need to deal with a central office. Do you want a landline number to give em a call at lunchtime?
In the natwest section, struggling mum has given a landline number(they don't work evening as far as I know).

Re: Horsemad v Natwest Financial hardship claim

I think it can do, which is why I would use the landline number. I would simply refer to their letter and tell them that the income and expenditure form was sent in Recorded Delivery to the local branch and they appear not to have passed that on.

Re: Horsemad v Natwest Financial hardship claim

Just an update to this. I sent a letter complaining to their Head Office and sent copies of all my FH stuff by recorded delivery, I rang them up a couple of days later only to be told that I needed to ring the Financial hardship number as they had forwarded the stuff on to them anyway. I spoke to a very nice lady and after explaining everything and bursting into tears over the phone (had bad news about my horse that day so was quite emotional) she agreed to get her supervisor to look at my case as a priority. The next day her supervisor rang me and asked me to fax through all my stuff to her fax machine as it could be days - even weeks before the stuff came through form Customer Relations. She rang me later that morning to see she had received all my info and was looking into it (this was 13th May). I rang up last Thurs (21st) to find out what was going on only to be told that she was still looking at my case as a priority but should not be long now... I've noticed that they have now shut my account as couldn't get in online, not really bothered as I never used it anyway but do you think I should keep pestering? It's bben 2 weeks now......

No harm in ringing them once a week to see how it's going.

Sorry about the horse xx I have one too. You'll have to come into Shout for a natter about our respective nags lol.

Fabulous news Horsemad am really pleased for you.
Even if it is not the full amount it won't prevent you from getting the rest later on when all the OFT stuff is sorted.
