  • Natwest Hardship Claim

Hi ive just managed to get through and total up my charges which add up to £3560 including interest:tinysmile_aha_t:
Im sure i qualify under the hardship rules, so im going to go for it!
I have a few questions if anyone could help i would soooooo apppriciate it!
Firstly is it ok to ask for the interest aswell?
When i send my first letter off do i hve to list all the charges or can i just ask them for the amount i have added it upto? ( i dont have a printer so this will be tricky)
After reading other peoples experiences the banks send out income expenditure forms, is it worth me listing and getting all my paper work together and sending it all in with my claim, will this make it any easier/quicker?

Sorry for all the questions! Im sure i had loads more though lol

Do you mean the interest they have charged you? If yes, then you are able to claim a proportion of interest arising from the charge. You need a spreadsheet to calculate this.

No, you don't have to list every charge.

Yes. They may ask you to fill out one of their own IE forms though.

hi thanx for the welcomes and replys
Amy ive done a spreadsheet that i got of this website which has calculated the interest, i think im goin to get proof of my debts the main ones are rent arrears, council tax, and water rates, and send those in to show why i think im in hardship. Then ill just wait for Natwest to send me their forms.
Nattie, yes i am a member of the library.

              Hi again Stacy,
That's sounds good so far, I also wrote very personal explanations of why I was in hardship in my letter, I think there may have even been a few salty teardrop stains on it too lol I have to say it looked nothing like the template letter by the time I'd finished, and followed up with phonecalls almost daily, take a look at the contact numbers for natwest that I've given, and ask away if you need any help xx

hi im just in the process of tryin to write my claim letter ive based it around a template from another website, is there any on here? Im not really to sure how much detail to go into,.
Also just received another huge bill, for a court fine of £1262.92 which i was payin weekly at £20 standing order but i cancelled all s/o and direct debits and had my child benefit, tax credits and careers allowance (which i receive for my 4 year old son), paid into a new basic account.
Anyway ive just phoned the courts nd they will now not accept weekly payments and they want the payment within 14 days, and they have issused a warrant to seize and sell my goods! wtf do i do now? sorry for goin on with myself
Will Natwest look at my claim as a matter of urgency if i ask them too?

Hardship claims need to be individual so we do not have a template. Ame put together this list of examples of hardhsip claims. Alos look at the Harship siccess and look at their letters.

You need to get your letter out asap and iclude a copy of the court letter as well as other examples of hardship. Go into as much detail as you can the more information you give them the more likely they are to pay out..

If you post your letter up here we can help you with it if you like x

Stacy take a look in the Hardship forum and get ideas for your letter from those that have been sent by others. There's not really a template as everyones own case is peculiar to each individual.
Are you much behind with your court fine payments ? Can you get down to the court ? if so go into the court office and explain to them face to face whats going on and why you stopped all s/o and d/d's, emphasise to them that the bank was swallowing up all your money with charges and that you are trying to get straight. Ask them if they will agree to a restart of the s/o from now on with your new account. Also if you have money available then offer to pay cash if your are behind.

That sounds like a good start to me , get your claim letter completed and tell them everything that is effecting you financially and in any other ways , stress ,illness relationships etc like others have told you the more you tell them the more they have to work on. Send all documentation recorded or if possible next day delivery if you can.

                            Hi

Glad to see you are getting lots of help.

Keep your letter simple and to the point - as they will probably base their decsion on the Income and expenditure form they send.

Yes emphasise the urgency, and call them to make sure they have the letter if you do not get an acknowlegement in a few days.

                            Best of luck

Finally have put toghether my letter after adding loads and taking loads off! not really sure if its ok so thought i would post it to get peoples opions i hope you dont mind.

                              Dear Sir/Madam
Ia m writing to request that you repay all the default charges applied to my account in the last 6 years.
I beleive these charges are unfair and do not reflect the true cost to Natwest of going into unauthorised overdraft. The charges total £3664.10
i beleive I have been unlawfully deprived of the money and therefore ask that you repay me the full amount.
I note the FSA's definition of fanancial hardship as drtailed in the updated waiver and beleive that i meet these criteria for the following reasons.
After the birth of my third child and having nine months of maternity leave I went back to work last July. My youngest went to nursery a day nursery but as my 4 year old has specail needs I struggled to find anyone with the appropriate experience to care for him, so unfortunately i had to leave work in September to become his full time career.Since then we have been struggling to meet monthly payments on all of our bills.
Rent arrears, council tax, water rates and a large court fine are our main priorities, of which we are finding it hard to pay the current rates and amounts off the arrears.
I have cancelled all direct debits and standing orders on this account, and have had my benefits paid into another account as my money was being swallowed up in charges.I have also requested that my account be frozen to stop anymore charges, but for some unknown reason it hasnt.
I have provided proof of the above as much as i can, and will happy to provide any more information you may need.
As the FSA waiver states that you should deal with my hardship case i would ask that you deal with my case as urgent.
                              Yours Faithfully

Thanx if you got this far!!
