Hi, hope someone can help me?,
I have received a claim form from County Court Business Centre on behalf of the claimant Civil Enforcement Ltd. regarding a parking fine back on 04/02/2015.
At this time I had parked my vehicle in the McDonald's Car park on the felling bypass in Gatehead, as had a meeting with local companies and the manager of McDonald's itself.
I later received a parking fine through the post which I immediately disputed as it showed that I had only overstayed by 10 mins and that the meeting was held with local employers including McDonald's manager. From sending this letter I had not heard anything further until receiving this letter today. As you can imagine I thought that my letter of dispute had been accepted as had no further correspondence with them any further.
However, I have spoken to the small claims department at county court business centre and they have advised me that this is what the claim is regarding and that the claimant is claiming for the total of £227.06.
Do I have to pay this? To avoid ccj and further action on credit file. the advisor on the phone did explain that as Civil Enforcement Ltd have said they will provide me with separate detailed particulars within 14 days I should wait till this is received as will provide full information.
Can anyone help with this as am unsure if I should defend the claim or look to pay. Don't understand how it can be over a year and only receive further action now following my dispute letter.
Any help would be great., as you can imagine I don't want this to go anyfurther or to impact my credit.
Thanks
