    Re: Credit report

The debts i mentioned from 1996-2055 are still on my credit report, if they are statute barred, should they still be on there, and any from over 6 years ago, that say default, should they be on there as well or not, thanks

        Re: Credit report

Hiya, I am with Experian and they specifically say that a defaulted account is removed from your credit file after six years, whether paid off or not! I would most definately make paper aeroplanes out of any correspondence you get from these DCA's. They are obviously desperate but totally toothless.

          Re: Credit report

Thank you so much, i thought that was the case, some accounts with the creditors are closed, but still on my credit report
I have read somewhere on this forum -i think, that different credit report agencies gie different reports
I wonder if its worth asking Experian for one as well, i just didnt want to do the online one, as if you forget to cancel after one month they automatically take money from your account, so dont want to give card details
I have seen again somewhere on here an address for them, so i will write for one,
I wasnt sure if just default meant it had to be wiped off

            Re: Credit report

If you speak to them, or write to them, do NOT acknowledge the debt. Refer to it as an 'alleged debt,' and offer nothing. I believe the 6 years runs from the last payment or acknowledgement of the debt, so you need to be sure there has been no such contact in the last 6 years.

I believe it was PeterBard who recently pointed out that in England, the debt merely becomes legally unenforceable after 6 years, but in Scotland, it becomes completely 'extinguished' after 5 years.

Thank you, yes i understand about not acknowledging the debt, but i think first of all i will get another credit report from Experian, and see what it says on that,as different places seem to say different things

How difficult is it to get a credit report from Equifax, i sent documents they asked for, dont have a driving licence,so was told utility bill would do, then got a message ,no it wouldnt, so dug out my passport, although i have never used it, also birth certificate, and DWP letter, now got a message to say they wont do they are illegal, WHAT? they also said a bank statement would do, but i dont want to send bank details, have messaged them now, if they wont do, to CANCEL my application
                  Cant do with the hassle
