SSE/LCS

Hi can anyone advise if LCS are acting on behalf of SSE as stated in the letter, is the debt still with SSE? And can they add £111.39 administration charge to the debt? Can they force me to pay this fee? Do I need to communicate with LCS? Or directly SSE.

Can you give us more information please? Have you received a letter from LCS regarding an old SSE debt?

I recently moved and on closing my account with SSE I was in debit (a large amount) still haven't got my head round it as I was paying £121 a month to them. They wrote to me a few times at my new address requesting payment of the debt in 3 instalments which is not possible any way after one thing in another I haven't come to an agreed affordable payment plan. I received a letter from SSE advising they have passed my account to LCS and the balance now includes a charge of 15% and contact must be done through them now. Then letter from LCS stating they are acting on behalf of SSE to recover the sum of £***** which included the 15% which they refer to as recovery administration charge.

Yes if they are acting on behalf of SSE then the debt is still with SSE.

My advice would be to allow slainte caragh to assist you with the bill issue, write a letter of complaint to SSE to find out how they think you owed such an amount and if they can't resolve the issue then complain to the ombudsman.

LCS can try to add any charges they like, but I wouldn't really bother with them other than to write them telling them you dispute the alleged debt, you have made a complaint to SSE and that they should cease communicating with you immediately. Mark their card by telling them that you will regard anything other than an acknowledgement of your letter as harassment under s1 of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 as in Ferguson -v- British Gas 2009.

So, without wanting to get too personal, I need info about the debt.

What's it for? How long is the bill period? Is it based on reads or not?

Are you still with SSE?
