    On advice I'm persuing this in two directions.
    One with Blemain re insurance and account fee issues.
    The second with the broker who sold me the mortgage. I received this reply today form the company dealing with my claim.

    Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the possibility of obtaining compensation for your mis-sold Blemain Finance Mortgage.
    Our specialists have assessed the information you provided and they have concluded you could be entitled to a substantial amount of compensation from the Company that arranged your Blemain Finance Mortgage.

    Therefore, I am pleased to confirm we are prepared to accept your case and seek to arrange for compensation to be paid to you.

    If you have not kept details of the Company that arranged your Blemain Finance Mortgage we can obtain these and if the Company is no longer in business, we will still be able to claim compensation from the fscs home finance compensation fund.

      hmmm, is the garbage above meant as distraction tactics or a deliberate attempt to discredit the site and the great work so many do on here?
      It will be extemely interesting when the source of this is discovered, I think they just made a big mistake, whoever they are.

            We get scores of these every week. Normally they are dealt with even before they get to post, however most of the site team and Admin are not around today so two or three Spammers managed to wreak havoc on the site.

                Blemain Block buildings insurance policy:
                I have noticed that the charge levied for this this year is considerably less than in the previous year. Down from "Buildings Insurance Charge of £494.00 and Buildings Insurance Block Policy Charge of £195.00" to "Buildings Insurance Charge of £181.00 and Buildings Insurance Block Policy Charge of £16.00
                Has any-one else found this? Have they been forced somehow to reduce the charges??
                Its a bit of a big difference at a time when insurance premiums are rising!!

                  Yes, I noticed that the insurance charges had been reduced on their Tariff of Charges shown on their website. I suspect they may have been forced to reduce these but don't know how or when. You can complain via their website by the way - I did once, and it worked. Minor thing though, late payment charge when I wasn't late in paying. Best wishes, MG

                    Since the introduction of the Web Relations Team nearly two years ago the usual way we have historically handled issues which we've come across on consumer forums such as MSE and CAG is to direct customer to our online Contact us form with a code which should ensure that the email reaches us and enable to provide further assistance.

                    However, in recognition of the concerns which we raised with me by Amesthyst a compromise was reached whereby we'd post our direct email address and leave it up to the poster's discretion as to whether they wanted to disclose where they'd contact us from or not.

                    The intentions of the team are summarised on CAG

                      And that is where I personally have the issue. An annonymous forum user becomes a user easily identifiable by your company. So, the compromise that was agreed here means your link is not appropriate and therefore I hope NO USERS email you with details of their thread on Legal Beagles.

                            Thanks MG, The tarriff reductions are quite recent, and I think you are right that they've been forced to reduce them. I have some-one looking into this.
                            My bigger concern i.e. that of 2 insurance policies on one property still remains, that too is being looked into for me.
                            I'll send you a private message when I have more info as clearly there are "eyes" on this thread!

                                I thought I was the only one who have been having a nightmare with BF!!

                                My troubles started when I was off of work through injury. Having been told I needed PPI to get the loan (£16,000 secured), I put in a claim. I was told my knee injury was not qualifying for PPI unless I have a referral to a specialist with Physiotherapy.

                                Missing some payments, BF then sent me a letter to tell me to pay all of the arrears or I would be taken to court in repossession proceedings. I called them and offered to pay £100 per month until arrears were paid off when I was back at work. They refused to accept the offer.

                                In court, I couldn't afford to pay for legal representation. I again offered £100 per month, which was then accepted by their legal representative.

                                Following the publicity on mis-sold PPI, I sent a complaint on a formal form to BF to claim back the £2,500 of PPI plus the £000's of interest added to my account. They sent a letter saying I needed to contact the broker, Click for Freedom, and that was that. I am now speaking to the FSA and a legal representative.

                                BF have also added on Buildings Insurance to my loan, even though I told them the management agents name and address. I didn't ask for BI; yet, they added it anyway. They should not accept loans and release money until seeing this document if that is what they need. Again, talking to FSA and legal representative.

                                Having paid off the arrears, I then discovered they have set up a second account for fees, which then incur interest and charges. My belief was that these fees and charges would be paid off with the court order. I now owe over £400 and growing. Again, talking with FSA and legal representative.

                                My balance now stands at over £22,000. The interest charged (12.2%) is more per month than my payments. I will never pay off this loan, which is for 25 years.

                                Therefore, I am thinking: unfair contract, mis-selling, forced policies, forced repossession, irresponsible lending, freud, and victimising for profits.

                                Unbelievable. I am also speaking with the Financial Ombudsman.

                                If anyone is in the position to, it may end up being a case of taking out a mortgage extension with a reputable Bank, paying off BF, paying less per month for the debt, advisng anyone you meet against BF services and cutting your losses. However, we shall see...I know that a bank would want £80 less per month, over 19 years for £22,000, with much less interest charged and the debt would reduce. Not good, but better. I just paid 12 months of double mortgage payments and this year my payments dropped by £100 per month. You gotta do what you gotta do and move on, I guess...at least that would be much less money for BF without 25 years of interest!
