I've tried to remove the personal details from the attachment, lord knows why but I can't, I've flagged it for my more IT educated friend to pop along and do it for me.

i think the poster needs to contact the credit agency and find out who placed the marker on her file
the poster can do it by the online dispute process direct with the credit agency

Re: can someone please advise me! STRESSED **BT**

Firstly I am a current BT account holder, phone and line rental.

Today I have received an alert from Equifax showing new credit agreement summary, BT Consumer, the last 4 digits of the account number shown do match my BT account.

This is the first time I have ever seen BT appear on my credit file, is anyone aware of this being new practice for BT.

          Kind Regards

          Simon

Re: can someone please advise me! STRESSED **BT**

the thing is.....the date that my dealings with BT began are correct on the entry on my report (when I originally subscribed to them in 2008).

I have written the letter and pray they take notice and remove it. I dont have any details with the account number to compare the last 4 digits on my credit report with as it was so long ago.

I will also contact equifax to query it. I hope in the long run I manage to get this removed.....

Here is a copy with my details removed....

Do you know that you can raise that as query directly with equifax, especially if you can send some proof they will be able to delete/amend the entry. Even if they refuse, whilst the entry is in dispute you have a right to post a 200 word explanation.

Re: can someone please advise me! STRESSED **BT**

after doing a bit fishing about it would seem BT are now reporting and digging up for a the past few years. I've just came across someone else who has this week had a default added by BT dated feb 2010. exactly like myself. they were also told nil balance after paying final bill.....Seems BT should expect an influx of complaints if this is what they have done to a number of ex customers

In that case the credit agencies will be getting a lot of calls/demands. Start with equifax, then lay into BT going straight to the top. CEO of BT is Ian Livingston, his email is ian.livingston@bt.com.

Re: can someone please advise me! STRESSED **BT**

I just thought i'd let you know that I emailed Ian Livingston (CEO of BT) regarding the situation, and have received a phone call and subsequently an email from his secretary apologising for the distress caused, she said 'its the last thing I need to worry about having just started a new job" etc so is very sympathetic, she says she is going to investigate on Ians behalf and is confident she can resolve it and remove the damage to my credit file.

So it sounds very promising. i am quite impressed to have had a response so quickly actually. Fingers crossed I get the result I need....looking good so far. will keep you updated

                          Hi,

My credit report has to day updated, BT has appeared on there showing payments up to date and nothing else untoward. I imagine this must indicate that BT accounts will now appear on credit files.

Great news, just to be on the safe side I suggest you check other credit check companies.

Hi, this has happened to me in the last few months also. A spurious account appeared on my Equifax file, I queried this with E and received the following reply

"Thank you for getting in touch. BT have engaged Equifax to load historical account data onto our systems. The alert you've received, is in relation to this newly added information to your credit report. This type of information may not relate to a new account that you've opened, it can relate to an older or closed account."

Not too helpful...!!!! But it shows that BT are loading historical data onto credit files....

Hi Jules, thank you for your message. I suggest that you look through the rest of this thread and follow the advice. You need to check the dates and information on your entry. If it relates to the legacy case query it volubly with BT and Equifax.
