Hi i'm a new member and not even sure if i have posted correctly but i need to have a rant and also seek advise!!!...Eqita are lurking around again!...Admittedly the council tax account is from a previous address many years ago. i have just however moved from my Grandmother's house as her full time carer as i have just had a baby. I contacted the council to notify my move with a forwarding address and now i am being made to feel i am refusing to pay.
I had a balance of £470 which crept up to £725 due to bailiff costs i paid half to clear one account on the condition that i pay minimum of £40 per month following this to clear the other. Since i have had 2 bailiffs pick up my case asking for full amount!! I have not defaulted on any payments since arrangement was put in place (apparently arrangement has not been recorded on system even though was agreed)
I was on income support at the time so i could only agree to £40 a week now on tax credits as my partner has a job but still a low income! When i contacted the bailiff i made the arrangement with, he advised that i ignore this bailiff as he had no right to pick up my case as an arrangement is in place. I tried to call and make a payment but was refused as a new bailiff has my case. Who has now added another £250 to my bill. I have been paying online to show my commitment but due to the account reference number ending in '78' instead of '79' they are taking it as non payment. Both accounts are in my name one is cleared and the other has the other half of initial debt, can they not just transfer my money over? or send it back to me and i'll pay again as this would be classed as an over payment? I am becoming increasingly stressed with this and last bailiff has given me a seizure notice and has threatened to take my car which my family bought for me to say thank you for caring for my grandmother for 4 years.. I know such detail is irrelevant but i needed to add as this is what is fueling my frustration i would not have a car otherwise! I am doing my best to pay and have not defaulted this year. Do these bailiffs think they are my only bill??? I have until tomorrow to say when i can clear the balance!!
Apologies for any grammatical errors, i am a tired mother of two... On that note i will go to bed!! Please any advise would be greatly appreciated and i hope my post makes sense to enable suitable advise! p.s i love Equita!
