I wonder if anyone can help. I received a notice of distress warrant from Philips a few weeks ago regarding a "magistrates court fine." I have attempted to call them at least half a dozen times but keep getting put on hold for an eternity. I have also used their text back service on 3 separate occasions but they have never called me back.

I have absolutely no idea what this fine is for.

This evening I returned home and found a notice of attendance through my letterbox with the debt increasing from 95.00 to 295.00. Again, I tried calling them without success and used their text back service, again, without success, so I have now sent them an e-mail asking them to contact me as a matter of urgency to which I received an automated reply asking me to allow 7-10 days for them to respond.

I have no issue paying the 95.00 in full if I owe it, my question is, is there anything else I could be doing and can they enforce this 200.00 for attending my property? I have already mentioned in my e-mail that I am unhappy with the charge as I have attempted to contact them many times and can provide proof of this if necessary.

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Welcome to legal Beagles.

The first thing you need to do is contact the magistrates court and ask if there are any fines outstanding in your name.

Also have a read here for more details
