Hello there,
My husband has just received a letter from the above stating that they are trying to contact him in relation to information supplied by a credit reference agency.
Firstly, the surname is spelled incorrectly but only by a digit. The letter refers to a person who lived at an address that actually my father in law lived in. We arranged the accommodation, paid all the bills as he could not have provided a reference himself.
The accommodation was a warden controlled complex, we moved him to a care home due to dementia some two years ago.
My husband had several missed phone calls on his mobile, quite possibly over a year ago. On one occasion he answered the phone call and a lady wanted to know his name and address.
He didn't give it to her but asked what it was regarding. It was a BT account. We did have a BT phone account for my father in law and in fact, had the same account for two of the flats he lived in but naturally did not need it in a care home.
We cancelled and paid everything when ending all services and do not remember there ever being an issue with BT.
We heard nothing more until now, a letter from Lowell. If for some reason this is the same concern regarding BT, we genuinely have no recollection of any outstanding money owed but, if we did, and overlooked it by mistake, BT has never once got in touch.
If BT had sent letters to us at my father in laws previous address, then. the staff who have always had our address surely would have passed them on.
I think what is strange though, we paid BT straight from our bank account and any paper correspondence always had my husband's name correctly written.
If we owe money, then we are more than happy to pay, but it all seems a little odd.
Any thought would be greatly appreciated, my husband thought that the previous calls were a scam but who knows.
Many thanks indeed.
