No, it shows a payment made in May 2007 for £88. The only other figure relating to this company is higher than Cabot are quoting so I don't know if this was the amount originally owed and they are trying to chase the remainder.

Possibly (chasing for the remainder plus spurious further charges).

The "payment made" could be the monthly amount allocated to them under the IVA.

Take your time to check through the paperwork. CitiFinancial credit cards were branded Citi Card so it probably is that one.

You've only had one letter from Cabot with no threats, so after the email you sent they may evaporate anyway.

If Cabot had known it was in an IVA (if it was) then they wouldn't have bought the debt and there may be a condition in the Deed of Sale which allows them to return it to the creditor so they may even be grateful to get the proof from you.

Your Plan B would be SB but there's a risk if you tell them that now it may be prompt them to issue a county court claim while they scurry around to try to find a random payment. Even if you have a 100% watertight Defence it's still a faff having to go through the legal motions.

If you can prove the IVA argument with written evidence then they're stymied

Thanks Di, definitely got the IVA paperwork, surprised to find it at first attempt. The IVA was definitely completed satisfactorily. I've only had two credit cards in the last 9 years and definitely no 'Citi' or City Financial ones. I'll sit tight and see if they send another letter.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.
