Hiya, sorry i know this is an old thread but thought i might jump on board...

I have a Category 4 on my Cifas (completely guilty, a tiny bit of payslip manipulation rather than inflation) however I'm on for 6 years according to Cifas - I did read some forums stating a year so I tested the water with a finance company I work quite closely with after 15 months to see if the "Skull and Crossbones" still appeared when I applied for credit facilities and it did. Its definitely worth knowing for future planning as I lived in false hope that I would be back in the credit market after a year back to living well beyond my means however no such luck! What I did find though is that if you use a decent broker, they can usually negotiate on your behalf for credit should you need it with the lesser known lenders, a lender shouldn't legally use the information to refuse a facility, it is just there to encourage them to do further checks on the applicant - This is never the case!

I'm in exactly the same position as you are, manipulation of wage slips and now have a 6 year CIFAS marker.

You mention a good broker being able to help. Can you recommend one? I've been trying to find one and most don't even understand the basics of CIFAS.

Hello there, i am having the same issue. I have a cifas application fraud marker. I was wondering if you found a solicitor that can help or a way to remove this marker?
FYI the application was forged by the broker not me and I have proof.

Have you made a formal complaint about the broker ?
