    'Bayliffs' [sic].

This has the ring of truth.

i take it from his comments this bailiffs condones and encourages the type of bailiff behaviour we read about if he was to publicly say this and have the courage to identify himself and not use a forum name i wonder what would happen,
Some Bailiffs strike me as being a different breed to the human race somewhere below a rat in natures world

I bet 'he' comes back with.........'if people paid their debts bailiffs wouldn't be needed',,well,,if 'people' could pay their debts they would pay them!! yes,,there are 'debt avoiders' and I think those that do should be hauled up in front of a beak and given cr appy jobs to do to work said debt off,,sewerage cleaning etc.( might find a bailiff or 10 down there)But to send baldheaded thugs out to terrorise and intimidate people is a disgrace,,they are not policed properly,,they exert powers they don't actually have, they threaten, abuse, bully, coerce and scare people. I'm not scared of them (I used to be) cos they are all full of c rap. Have you seen that bunch of muppets on the TV just now? What do they look like!!?? Not a neck between them, one of them looks like a Dr Who character and they openly lie on the programme about what powers they have. The beauty of LB is it teaches ordinary people how to deal with the morons, leaving them without a leg to stand on,,and thats fantastic.

          Sir Vere,

Could I repeat my question and ask what you think about the legislation in the news last week please? In your opinion, does it go far enough? Why or why not? Which areas should be changed? Why and how?

It would be very interesting to know the insider view, as you must have an inherent interest in it.

Can I ask also, when this type of legislation comes in, how do they ensure everyone is fully aware of changes? I assume there is some sort of 'fitness test' to ensure you're suitably knowledgeable to go out and implement the new measures?

Finally, is there also ongoing professional development you have to attend? How does the CPD work in the bailiff industry and how does target setting work?

          Thanks.

            Sir Vere,

I am not going to be abusive; as that , I find rarely helps in dialogue. However bearing in mind that certain bailiffs have: (and do ) abused their positon and misrepresented their powers . Then an unequivocal statement condemming these abuses would be useful. A statement to this effect would , I feel, improve the credibilty of the poster on this forum.
I too would be interested in his/her views on the proposed reforms. The Original Poster (OP) may also like to suggest what regulation and sanctions would be necessary to restore public confidence in the debt revovery system .

I cannot, for the life of me,think of anything good to say about a bailiff, bayliff,DCA,or any of the 'moneygrabbing' personnel. Manners maketh the Man we are told,,never yet came across a polite sincere one (male or female).Saying 'please' to someone who you have terrified witless doesn't count as manners,it is a condescending overuse of a simple word to show they have a 'human' side. They sleep well at night because a majority of their 'victims' don't have a clue of their legal rights and would sell their granny to get the goons off of their backs.

I can say there are some good ones out there. I think once you start talking to real people at a decent level of seniority, you tend to get a far more reasonable approach. I mentioned a debt recently with HMRC for £19K which was written off. I've had another recently for just under £9K owing to a bank written off. Personally I have had substantial debts written off. The problem is the automated system which is in place assumes willful non-payment of debts, and initial approaches are often overly aggressive, or progress to that stage too swiftly.

The DCA's tend not to realise many of the people who owe the money are scared, overstretched, don't know which way to turn to get out of the situation in which they find themselves. It's often not so much they ignore the letters as they're scared and simply don't know what to do to deal with them.

Once approached directly by someone with a reasonable knowledge of the law, they can often change their attitude significantly. This is unlikely to be achieved if initial verbal contact is through the first tier CSA's who are sitting there taking hundreds of phone calls, being shouted at in for the minimum wage. They have no power to do anything other than abide by company policy.

It is VERY unfortunate it often takes external, third party intervention to get justice for these people.

That does seem rather unfair on the Warriors of Sontar, for you seem to have suggested that, like bailiffs, they have no honour.

Actually! I met a very nice and polite bailiff once.......................................well! who in their right mind would walk into an Abattoir with an attitude.
Very funny watching him running like feck covered in pig blood and ****e

Pigs arn't solitary animals though, so I don't think bailiffs are from the pig family.
No! I would put them down as spiders or possibly snakes, then again maybe blind mole rats or skunks or even pollen wasps or steppe polecats or orangutans

                            But unfortunatly not lemmings
