The difference in sentence for simple possession is a lot less severe than intent to supply. Also concerned in supply is a different charge to both.

There is no offence of intent to supply - maybe you mean attempt?

It depends what Class of drug you've been charged with supplying or attempting to supply and both offences carry the same maximum prison sentences:

Cannabis - 6 months summary; 14 years on indictment

Cocaine - 6 months summary; life on indictment (with a minimum of 7 years if there are two previous Class A trafficking offences when it's "supply")

Fines can also be imposed as well as or instead of the above.

But 20 grams of Class B and some personal use Class A are hardly earth shattered amounts.

I beg to differ posession of a controlled drug with intent to supply is an offence: https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk...ntrolled-drug/ Possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply it to another

ISLANDGIRL I understand that it’s an offence to posses drugs with intent to supply. What I’m asking is what’s the difference between “Being concerned in the supply” and “possession with intent to supply”? Whats the difference in severity etc

Full sentencing possibilities for intent to supply / offer to supply are here: https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk...ntrolled-drug/ The intent to supply has to be proved (bigger quantity and/or supply of small bags, lots of cash etc)
