  • HELP!!! - Gold/ Diamond Ring SOLD to Jewellers/ pawnbrokers;

    I asked my son to take a ring to local Pawnbroker/ Jewellers to 'pawn' (pledge?); as I was self-isolating. Today, I gave him the money to redeem for me, as had only been a temp measure/ owing to my confinement prior to xmas. When he attended the 'Outlet' they told him, he could not redeem the item, as they had bought it outright. My son, had not realised this & assumed as it was a 'pawnbrokers' he had pawned it? If I had wanted to sell it, I would not have done so via jewellers/ pawnbokers, as they only pay for the gold/ not diamond value etc.
    Anyway, I am desperate to establish if I have any rights in buying item back as obvious mistake and they certainly had not made this clear to my son and he not familiar with such things, was just helping me out at the time? This was the day before xmas eve?
    Any advice/ relevant links to Consumer Credit Act/ Sale of Goods Act etc - much appreciated.
    thank you so much in advance.

    It, to my unqualified eye, arguable that since your son had no title he could not sell it and it is still in your ownership. What authorisation in writing did you give him ?
