Hello!
I hope you can help. I am waiting on inheritance from an elderly relative. A family member/executor of her will has dealt with her estate rather than a solicitor.
All relevant forms have been submitted and inheritance tax has been paid. He has received an email from HMRC stating they agree with his calculations and there are no more taxes to be paid.
My question is, what happens now? Does he need to send this form to a probate office for it to be granted or is this done automatically by the tax office?
Does anyone have an idea how long it is likely to be for funds to be distributed from this stage. I am looking to move house but ideally need this money to do so yet all I see is 6-9 months but I am not sure if this applies as inheritance has been paid and HMRC agree with figures.
Thank you in advance.
