My ex employer has written to a potential employer and stated that my reference was agreed , a condition specifically stated in the COT3 document. This has caused me to lose the employment and future employments as well.. What can I do?

Did you have any input into the reference and agree it in advance of signing the COT3?
Was that the reference that was sent to the potential employer?
