  • Anglian Group

A sales man came to my house and I asked a neighbour Roger to sit with me, I am 74 going on 75, a widow and partially disabled. I signed the contract under* the assumption I had a legal right under the 1974 consumer Credit act. Roger made a point of saying "so this covered by the 14 day cooling off period and the gentleman answered that "Yes" that was the case" I was left hanging in the air so decided to cancel the contract 14 days later. Anglian say in their contract it says 7 days cooling off period and I know there have been cases regarding this and I spoke to Trading Standards and they quote chapter and* verse that the Law is the Law and states that their is a 14 days cooling off period especially if the contact was signed outside their office but all the people at Anglian are arrogant and downright rude.and today the area manager said he was closing the phone and put the phone down as he had nothing more to say.Since the deposit is nearly £900, it is a substantial amount and I am desperate to get that monies back, what do I do? To me the Law is the Law but Anglian Group try to flout this regulation and* continue to hope I will go away. £900 per month is my income, hence the need to get it back.

You will need to send them a letter before action and then if they still refuse or ignore the letter file a claim against them.

I would send two letters, one addressed to the CEO or MD and one addressed to the legal department.
