Charging nuisances phone calls @ £50 a second.

Hi I normally answer nuisances phone calls with “this call is charged at £50 a seconded do you wish to continue?” normally they hang up on me. The last time they agreed and gave me their company details and said about how it was their first day at work at the call center, a very nice person. Can I charge for the two minutes 24 seconds call?

Yes you can charge the company by sending an invoice. Will the company pay you, probably not.

If you took it to court, are you going to be successful, highly unlikely. £50 per second is manifestly excessive on any level - how can you justify charging that much?

£10 or £15 per call is more realistic.

Thanks, I think you are right I could offer a 50% discount if they pay in 21 days and offer to send 50% to charity.

I don’t believe it but another company rang up today for 3.39 I think I said 5 times I was charging for this call, this could be an interesting way of earning a living?

Hi because I get about 5 calls a day from these people and have asked to be removed from there databases with no effect. I see it like having a parking space I may want guests to use it but not uninvited people using it to sell me something.

You can offer, send them whatever bill you like but they're not liable to pay it until a court orders them. So that's where its probably going to end up if you want to do something about it but as I said, theres a high chance you are not getting £50 per second.
