Hi
Unfortunately I fell into financial difficulty and three years ago a credit card creditor, subsequently taken over by a Debt Collection Agency (as they often are) were rather quick to accelerate a charge against my property. Not a problem if I never sell my house, but it would be upon death and besides, I'd like to own my house outright and enable my children to inherit lock, stock and barrel, rather than it be encumbered by debt. I might be in a position to negotiate a payment, but the debt is c£8500 and I certainly can't afford that.
What's the very best bargaining position I can engineer in your experience, chaps? That'd be full & final settlement or even a much increased staged settlement over the period of 12/18/24 months? I'm not even sure if I'm paying the creditor anything at the moment. I have other creditor arrangements ranging from nominal £10 to £25 pm payments, but the creditors names have changed over time due to the debts being sold on.
Would it be helpful, in order to tap into people's experiences, to name the creditor? For instance, are some more lenient/generous than others?
Kind regards
