Asda are never going to try court, even if DWF were to recommend it.
you were caught shoplifting an item worth £10. If it wasn't recovered in a saleable condition they could only claim its net cost to them.
Security costs are part of their overheads and they can't charge you for those as they would have been incurred regardless.
It is going to cost them more to take you to court than they could possibly recover as costs claimable on the small claims track are very limited.
It just will not happen
