Hi all,
A few years ago I owed an amount to British Gas , just over £400. They eventually passed it to a debt collector whom after sometime sent me a "Settlement Figure" (I still have this letter!). The letter states that if I pay within 7 days BG has agreed to reduce the debt by £125 and a few pence. I paid within 24 hours and have the receipt to prove it. However, after about 18 months I got a letter from a different Debt Collector chasing the £125. I spoke to them and emailed them a copy of the letter, I heard no more from them. But, another However, I have since been contacted by about 4 different debt collectors chasing the £125 and I have done exactly the same. I have again recently received another letter from yet a different debt collector again trying to chase the £125. How can I stop this stupidity without having to prove to each and every collector to whom this is passed to?
