  • HELP- Default by Santander

    Hi All

I am new to this and any help would be most appreciated.

I have a default on my credit file by Santander which I am paying now through a Debt management Company who must have purchased the debt from Santander.

I hope if someone can advise me if my reasons that the default occurred was because of being involved in a abusive relationship and as my youngest son was abducted are good enough to have this default removed.

    Thanks in advance

    J

    In a word, no!

If you had financial difficulty at the time and failed to contact them to explain the situation, then they issued you with compliant default notices and you ignored them they have no obligation to remove the report to the credit file.

You could try a complaint letter to them hoping they'll do it as a gesture of goodwill taking into account your situation at the time, but there's no way to force them if they refuse unless they have acted improperly.
