Re: X Factor 2008 LIVE SHOWS

Do you think th public vote was a fix then? Or influenced by the papers and did louis vote to get her out as she was the favourite or because of the relationship publicity ?

If Egouhghangoghannog (how do you pronounce it, Trevor?) wins, he'll be a nobody like that other one that won last year, whatever his name is. I've forgotten him already, that's how memorable he is.

Laura, on the other hand, could have been another Leona.

But as she has already had a recording contract she will probably be picked up again and I am sure she will be ok.

Re: X Factor 2008 LIVE SHOWS

            Hi All

Aw poor Laura ! I was quite shocked and sad to see Laura go last night, and was hoping she would of had a bit longer to go, she has great potential and was one of the best.... but it just goes to show how the media/press can destroy people's perception of other people, especially of what goes on in their personal lives. What goes on in her personal life should stay personal. The public were obviously influenced by the 'stories' and I reckon it helped sway the direction of the voting.

If the press had no knowledge of what went on in her personal life, then I really think she would been voted to stay in the comp..

While I'm on the subject of the press..(and i'm ranting too lol)

....Look what is happening to Rachel. The press are having a field day with her because of her colourful past. Having a tough past can make you an unlikeable person. Nearly everyone is anti-Rachel. She has made stupid mistakes in her life and she knows that. (Tell me anyone who hasnt !)
but its not a valid reason for the press and the public to persecute her.

I have empathy for Rachel, she is doing something that she enjoys which is obviously singing, and she is very talented with it too. The press should be helping her, not kick her down.
She has said that she wants a chance and to change her life around, if not just for herself, but for her kids too.

The X factor has given her a chance and she has grabbed it with both hands and she deserve's that chance in life to make her life better. Everyone deserves a chance if given it.

To also see Rachel crying on the show last night was very upsetting to watch. In the inside of herself she must be crying out for affection and for people to like her and to also respect her for her singing. On the outside she looks like a tough cookie, and comes over all defensive and arguementative, which is why I presume, some people don't like her. She has taught herself to be tough because of her past. Its all she knows, and she most probably doesnt even like herself much. Sad, but maybe true.

(from the desk of the Rachel Hylton fan club LOL )

Re: X Factor 2008 LIVE SHOWS

I have not read the press coverage for Rachel recently but it was obvious last night there was something wrong with her - she just seemed sad.

And what made me really mad was yes she did hit a couple of "bum " notes in the song - but the producers chose to show that point in the song two or three times leading up to voting. Very contrived I thought.

I still think she has a very strong voice but she seems a little uncomfortable with the whole intense circus that comes with the show.

I agree with you on that - but maybe if she had been honest - or the shows producers had let her be honest about her past - i.e the previous contract then there would have been no problems. She was perfectly entitled to be on the show as the contract had ended - but they seem to sell the line - that they have been plucked from obscurity or a boring job and then the next week they are on TV. Which in her case was not entirely true.

                Hi Scoobs

I totally agree with what you just said Scoobs. but do you think that the contestants are told not to disclose much about their past?(or present) (by either thier agents or show producers) after all, they are told when to talk, eat, sleep etc...

On the other hand, people who audition may also not disclose everything by personal choice too and will do absolutely anything to get on tv. They want fame and fortune at any cost. I also reckon theres a hell of a lot of other celebs out there who have done the same thing. lol

This is the problem. Sweep it under the carpet until it gets 'leaked' out by some unsavoury person willing to sell the story.

Re: X Factor 2008 LIVE SHOWS

Yes I do agree with you there as it has been reported by Rhiddian from last year that he was "coached " on what to say and what not to say - and when he objected he was told that that is what he had to do to get votes.

But surely in this day and age the producers must know that if there is anything in the past it WILL come out. There is aways someone willing to sell a story . You only have to look at the Katherine Jenkins stories this week.

So If they did tell Laura to keep quiet than they have lost the competition for her.

I still think she has genuine talent - she must have had to be favourite so hopefully she will be picked up soon.

I have no idea on any of the publicity about past lives etc of any of the contestants. Laura and Ruth being bottom two was completely utterly ridiculous. Laura being voted off was even more ridiculous, shes gorgeous, and has amazing talent.

Ruth has got a couple of fantastic points. Remember, she was born and brought up in Spain. She has a great voice.

Actually her last song in the sing off I thought was one of the best of the night.

But even if louis had left it to the public vote it still would have been one of them going - so why are the public voting the way they are? either the press or they thought Laura was safe so did not vote for her?

If thats the case then Rachel will be next as I think they consider her a loose cannon.

                              Next week could be interesting

Have to agree with Simon Cowell, I hated the song and she was not back to her usual self. She seemed to be droning this week. I expect better from my favourite
