A real eye opener of a programme imho, not the fact that these things go on, but the sheer amounts of food wasted.

Although our major supermarkets say the food fit for human consumption is sent out to charities etc it seems that's not always the case. Although our supermarkets state they support small farmers that also is not always the case and it seems they are often the reason for the farmers going out of business.
Supermarkets insist the consumer wants the perfect fruit and veg, so all fruit and veg not up to standard goes back in the ground at the expense of the farmer.
Supermarkets also rely on us to keep em up and running so it would be in their best interest to start listening to us.
