An update on my court case.

Just had a call from the SYP regarding the court case of the man who smashed my car and window.

He is now subject to an 18 month supervision order, 4 months community service and an 18 week Drink Awareness course. Also he will be answering to the Probation Office for 18 months, and I will be sent a letter with the compensation I will have been awarded.

He has also agreed to attend a 12 month counselling programme to help him adjust with "normal" life.

Great result for all concerned,,nice to see a lad getting the help he needs/wants and not shoved on lifes scrapheap cos he can't cope at the moment

A Supervision Order is, in my considered judgement, the right decision, Puff. This means this guy, who has risked life and limb for this country, will get the help he needs to cope with what he saw in the theatre of conflict. I am pleased the court has arranged a 12-month programme of counselling for him.

thanks to everyone for their good energy and positivity and yes BB I totally agree with you.
I desperatly did not want him going to prison, what good would that do expect enhance his nightmares etc?

Sometimes the lock em up route is the wrong one to take.

My mum said to me, its Karma hun, you have done something good so you are getting your payback in the exact judgement you wanted is granted!

Obviously the Universe heard you and responded accordingly, Puff. It's something called Synchronicity. This is what my Angels of Light cards say about Synchronicity -

I'm really pleased at the outcome, Puff. As has been said - the guy appears to have got what he deserved - and in the most positive way. A sensible punishment, and some understanding and help. Good to see that you'll be getting some compo. I'm not sure if this would be directly from this guy, or from a victims compensation fund. I expect BB will know.

It will depend on what the court has ordered, Bill. However, I must say that the judge who heard the case does need to be applauded for their use of commonsense and realising that the guy needed help, not punishment.

I'm glad it has come out the way it has. I dont want a penny more than what it will cost to fix my window and buy a new windowscreen wiper, and if I see him in the street (he only lives 3 doors down) I shall give him a hug and tell him he is the bravest man ever for taking the counselling. I bear him no ill feelings or grudge.

Your Gran sounds a bit like my Grandfather on my mother's side of the family. He had a saying, "Speak your mind, but still be kind". In other words, "Say what needs to be said, but do it in a loving way."

I've seen him.
I have not long since been in from taking 2 of my 3 'erberts to school, and on the way I noticed a man I thought I recognized. He came over to me and asked if I was the lady "with the smashed up house". I didn't realise it was him, his voice was so soft and gentle compared with the roaring and screaming I had heard.
I said yes and he looked at The Boys and said "I smashed your window. I was very drunk and its a very bad thing to be, and I am very very VERY sorry. I never meant to hurt anyone and if I hurt one hair on your head, I fully apologise."

What more can I ask? He's not a monster, not your stereotypical yobbo with the hoodie and staffordshire Bull Terrier dragging him along. He is in fact a very gentle and quietly spoken, decent man. He asked me to forgive him.. I did that the morning after when I realised his head must be hurting a lot more than my purse would!

It was good that he took the initiative, and approached you Puff. Apart from completion of his punishment and associated counselling, you all seem to have attained a kind of 'spiritual' completion by this, too. You will be able say 'hello' with a smile if you pass in the street, now. Both of you have kept your freedom to walk down the street without needing to cross over. Rrrrrrrespect !!!

You will find that what this guy did when he came up to you in the street and made his peace took a lot of courage, Puff. He has to be applauded for that. It takes a brave man to do what he did.

exactly.
I was in tears when he did it, and I said to him you are the bravest man I know for 1 apologising to my kids, 2 being a squaddie in the first place and 3 taking the counselling.

I have been awarded £150 compensation, which is the price of a new window, and.. hows this for good karma, I called up to book my next years hol in Scotland and instead of paying £538 for 6 people, we are paying (get ready) £498!!
I'm so happy I'm grinning like a prat

It all goes to show, bad things happen to good people, but good things happen to them too!
