I totally agree.

For those who have recently joined Beagles from CAG I completely understand your frustration and anger. From my own experience it is entirely understandable that coming from a forum that actively inhibits free speach to one that genuinely embraces it, it is not difficult to get carried away. I know.

Most of you will be aware of the issues of a couple of years ago that erupted so publicly and which caused Amethyst a great deal of stress and anxiety - caused by sustained personal and public abuse from OTR. One of the outcomes from that is that CAG would now never tolerate a thread like this about Beagles on their site - for fear of the potential repercussions. But in turn we enjoy the freedom to criticise other sites or individuals. In that regard we are in a privileged position.

It is our individual and collective responsibility as citizens to hold those around us accountable but we also have an obligation to distinguish ourselves from the subjects of our disapproval if we value who we are.

Most will agree with your noble view(s), Amethyst and EXC.

However, many early OTR members have been labelled as rejects, when in fact they joined OTR at the very same time as, B: 2006 and have/had been loyal members
but now labelled as, rejects after 4+ years of membership.

The first wave, decided to leave or abstain from posting after the Lowell incident;
the second wave, after it became clear that their plea's would not be heard;
the third wave, after pt made the decision to throw the towel in Re Egg.....

Turning back to the Lowell incident.

IMO, many early members became enraged when 'B', put her oar into a thread, (Lowell Financial; now deleted) which she had not posted on prior.

She could not leave the matter alone though but re-commenced her, how can I say, attack and ridicule of many intelligent early OTR members in the Beer Garden forum (also on MSE)

Hi all, Have to say I'm not overly happy or comfortable with the personal comments about Bookie - I'd like it if we could please try cut those out a bit. However much she may attack the site and generally our users, for whatever reason she does, I havent seen her make personal comments about individuals, so I don't think that is very fair, and having been of the receiving end of many similar comments in the past, I know however people may perceive you to be a hard bitch (whether its true or laughable), it still hurts.

I disagree, she certainly has made personal comments about individuals in the past including myself and also about yourself Amethyst and she will, without doubt, resort to the same tactics in the future. It's in the nature of the beast !!

However, I do agree that from our side we should try to avoid the temptation to descend to her level.

It is not necessary or desirable to mock the afflicted.

As a close friend of mine once said " All women have the right to be ugly but some of them just abuse the privilege"

Im inclined to agree Amethyst. She hasnt (yet) resorted to personal insults. She prefers for her own reasons to vent her spleen about this place whilst defending the mismanagement of OTR.

Who knows why she is being so loyal to them.

I once considered myself a loyal GAG member but the way they treat people is disgusting. There is no discussion with them at all and now my posts are moderated its hardly worthwhile being a member any more.
