  • What would you like to see in 2010 ?

What would you like to see this year? We have made some great steps towards fairer treatment of consumers but a lot more needs doing.

So what are your desires for the coming year ?

    - the civil justice system less biased towards the finance industry and large corporations

    - a standardised system of bank charges regulated, monitored and enforced independently

    - stronger regulation on treatment of consumers in financial difficulty in all areas

    - claims management regulator actually enforcing rules and actively investigating claims management companies with much greater transparency to consumers.

    - debt management companies guidance formally regulated, monitored and enforced

    - debt collection agencies monitored much more closely and greater transparency from regulators

    - the OFT to take legal action on credit card charges to bring an end to the current deluge of claims against c/card companies and bring some legal certainty to the issue.

Any major contracts that are set by the financial institutes to be read, translated and regulated before they get to the consumer, also tested for fairness.
That if a consumer signs an agreement, any alterations or amendments to that agreement be regulated, tested and translated before being accepred by the consumer.

That ANY financial institute being complained about with any regularity or numerous complaints should be dealt with swiftly and severly.

A sense that the regulator is not in the pocket of the financial institutions but act fairly in their dealings with consumers, explaining clearly their reasoning if they reject a complaint where they are arbitor.

I still that bank charges are, on the most, NOT explained clearly to the consumer based on their individual history ie that the explanation is a real live example rather than an unindividualised one. At the moment the customer believes that they are just a number and go to the bank simply to be sold products.

In fact LESS in your face selling at branch level.
