  • Re: Is anyone Preparing for Xmas Yet ?

I have still only bought 2 boxes of Ferreiro Rocher. Although I have ordered the turkey and lamb from the butcher's. Christmas decorations not on tree yet, tree not even out of the box. Conservatory (where tree is supposed to go is full of 2 leather settees, which are supposed to be moved into the dining room. However they can't go into the dining room cos OH in his wisdom put the dining table in there, God only knows why because the dining table was perfectly okay in the conservatory where it has been for the last 3 years. But he moved the table so he could put the settees in. Don't know why cos the settees were never meant to be in the conservatory anyway. Why didn't he just put the settees into the dining room, I hear you all ask. Well I have no bloody idea!! Oh dear here we go again, am I repeating myself pmsl???? And to make matters even worse, said settees are buried under a pile of ironing.
To make matters worse, Jessie had her scooter nicked, which means we now have to find £200 to give to Tony's sister, because she was buying the scooter and had given us her car worth £200 in part exchange. As we never have any spare money at the end of the month I have no idea where that's coming from, nor where the pressies are coming from for that matter.
Not exactly sure if Christmas is going to happen in our house, might just cancel it pmsl.

On the plus side though, I've got 10 days off work, so it's not all bad.......

Oh Wends it sounds like a proper mad house at yours, I bet its always exciting living there.

Ok re the room situation, I always thought that a dining table went in the dining room, sofa's (settee's) go in the lounge and in the conservatory you have conservatory furniture.

Sorry to hear about Jessie's scooter, was it insured ?

Don't worry hun Christmas after all is just one day and as long as you are all together and are happy and healthy the rest is just basically commercialism isn't it.

Yes well we already have sofas in the lounge. Moved table into conservatory cos it's nicer in there and it looks out over the garden (so we could see if Tinkerbelle fell in the pond and accidentally nearly drowned herself again lol). So that left an empty dining room which was basically turning into a corridor between the lounge and kitchen. So thought we would put the extra sofas in there and have it as an extra sitting room. At least we have had some progress - the sofas were in the back of the horsebox for a fortnight then have been in the garage for 3 months pmsl. They are obviously working their way into the (ex) dining room in easy stages!

The scooter was insured but only third party as the excess is so high anyway we wouldn't have ended up with anything once the excess had been deducted anyway.

On the plus side there's only the 3 of us for dinner this year, so we have a plan for after dinner to slob about with the duvets, eating chocolates, drinking and watching crap on TV......

Just remembered more good news - I forgot I had bought a lovely hat and scarf for Lewis's GF, so that's another one sorted:santa_wink:

Started preparing today...I've brought one present (which is now stuck in the car as its too heavy for me to get it out) and some bows to stick on the presents -whenever I get round to buying them.

I ordered a Turkey - and Im sure everyone will shout at me again for buying one that has been hugged to death- I still dont get why me being vegetarian is left to buy the turkey?

Blimey I am ahead of some of you - have most presents , booked my shopping slot, turkey ordered and have some drinks in that we have not touched yet.

Daughter has done a quick decorating job on the lounge temporarily covering up deep channel gouges from rewiring with masking tape ( decided we wont be able to redecorate properly for months because of salary cuts) She is going for a homely cosy look and we are off to Matalan at the weekend to dress the room in the cheapest possible way.Got rid of yellow walls so I am pleased.

But no tree yet, no wrapping done and cards not posted. A busy weekend I think.

Oh Sapphire, you minx, I so love your picture. Now thats my kind of Christmas present.

I'm not organised for Christmas at all, still 14 days to go, no rush the shops are almost open 24/7 at the moment. Need to get stuff for my two cherubs and my hubby, who unfortunately does look nothing like the picture you posted. I do love him though...

I didn't know it was possible to hug a turkey to death. Who takes its head off?

I bought a BOGOF on Budweiser, 30 bottles in total at the beginning of the month, now down to 6, oops! and just my luck the offer isn't on now! Serves me right for being hopeful that we wouldn't touch them, ah well :cancan:.
