    do i want a servicecard...no
did i ask for it... absolutly not
did i ring them yesterday and ask for the card to be stopped....yes
thier reply... it's an automatic upgrade as you have stayed withing your limits for the last 6 months... and it can't be stopped... you old card will become void shortly after the new one is recieved!!!

arrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhh Tempty that is so annoying. Once they do that its so easy and tempting to think i really need such and such so it doesnt matter this once, then they have you back in the loop again.

I'm staying strictly cash and although I do miss doing my food shop online I knw having to walk to co-op and carry it home means I spend a lot less money and nly buy what I actually need. They start giving me stuff like that I'm using all my willpower to shove it back where it came from.

You do have a choice - they just make it a flaming hard one.

Talking of post offices, I just found to NS Account books of mine.

        1) A National Savings Ordinary Account (late Used 21/05/1998) with a balance of 15p.

        2) A National Savings Investment Account (last used 13/07/1998) with a balance of £1.51

Got to pop to the PO later to send a rec del letter to Welcome Finance so will see if this has gone up or if the account is still usable etc.

        PS

LOL I had a simialr rant on CCS:

          Lets get real here!!

          1) Did we request a service from them, NO!!

          2) Did they state in their inception terms that they were supplying us a service, NO!!

          3) Did Original T&C's state they would apply penalties if we breached the contract terms, YES!!

          4) Services are useful and something we require, are theirs? NO!!

          5) Is it not fact that they only changed their T&Cs to missrespresent a service arguement because they know its they only way they could have any slim chance of winning in court against claims for refunds and to do this they had to re-word/restructure accounts/cloak or veil their unlawful profit making penalties? YES!!

          6) Have they been concealing the fact that they have been fleecing us for x amount of years? YES!!

          7) Have we been paying them money by mistake and in mistaken belief that due to the fact they have been levying the penalty charges to our account and we always beleived they would operate our accounts in line with UK Law? YES!!

          8) Should section 32 of the Limitations Act 1998 apply because of this miss-rep, concealment, and pyment by mistake? YES!!

          9) Does Tanz get wound up by the Banks blatant attempt to continue to conceal their true costs? PMSL YES!!

          10) Is their charging regime purely a profit making vehicle? YES!!

'you can choose from a variety of accounts within the above' therefore even more choice

If wages could only be paid into a Barclays current account only, then you would have no choice.

Not sure if you understand my logic here, but its clear in my mind..lol

Also if you go through all the EC directives there's probably one for this situation anyway, and if not I bet they will pop one up soon enough.

That has just got me thinking Nattie and PK and of course cough splutter choke Dave..............

A friend of mine works for Direct Line Insurance at their body repair centre.

Direct Line is owned by RBS ..........

ALL their employees have been told that their wages HAVE to be paid into an RBS account or face disciplinary procedures.

Therefore ........................ if the account they make you take out to pay your wages into is a fee/service charging one , then this is in direct breach of ECHR???

Me thinks I will be having a word with him at the weekend.

The RBS contract does state that you need to be paid into an RBS Group account, so you could have NatWest, RBS or Virgin account

                Hmmmm

sometimes if you take a loan out with a bank they insist (or write in the terms) that the DD/SO must cme from an account with the same bank. Makes it incredibly hard to leave. So thats taking choice away too.

Yes and No, I would always look at the loan with the new bank if or when that happened so that the bank not only get the account but get you hooked to them, so to speak, for 4 or 5 or 7 or 10 years.
