Suspecting fraud has taken place in a contested probate case our solicitor requested financial records but the executor has refused saying they do not consider it their role?

You have provided no information about the situation and how you fit into the picture. You do say, however, that you have instructed a solicitor. Have you asked your solicitor for advice?
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Can I just say that reading all your multiple threads (13 of them so far!) to try and piece together the story so far is a painful process.

Basically, your uncle has died, and his will names his carer as executor and sole beneficiary. Hence the recent "next of kin" question. You suspect coercion, dishonesty etc.

I think it would be a good idea for you to write up a new thread with the full story so far and then ask the questions on which you seek advice.

to be honest I’m a bit concerned to give too much away in case the defendant is doing the same research I am
